So lovy19 (aka Marie) was supposed to have surgery this morning. I have tried calling her cell phone several times but it goes straight to voicemail. Marie said she'd have a nurse call me to give me an update when she was out of the OR and in her room. But, I've heard nothing so I'm guessing either the nurses changed shifts or that someone just forgot. I'm sending happy thoughts, prayers and swinging critters for her and I ask that you all do the same.
I suspect that all is fine and that she's' spending the day sleeping. Her family isn't very supportive of her decision to have bariatric surgery so she's pretty much alone there at the hospital. Another member here has said she may stop by for moral support (I'm not able since I'm on the opposite coastline). My hope is that when she's awake and has her pain managed, that she'll be able to remind someone to give me an update to I can update you all.
Swing some critters folks!
Sheri

I was thinking about her today. Do you know what time her surgery was? I remember when my brother had his DS at the same hospital, he didn't get to his room until almost 11pm. I also had my surgery there, but I was so out of it I cant tell you when I made it.
HIPAA privacy may play a role, too, in them calling you. Hopefully we'll hear from her soon.

I believe her surgery was around 11:00 today. I did consider that the nurse may not be allowed to contact me do to privacy issues. We'll see. I thought I'd just keep trying her cell and then tomorrow try again. I had my surgery here in CA and had the surgery at 10:00 or 10:30 and was in my room by 1:30 or 2:00 so I figured she'd be settled by now. But if your brother had the experience of not going into the room until later, then perhaps that's what's going on.
I'll keep you all posted as information comes through!

Yeah, it's a crazy busy NYC hospital. My brother had his DS around 1pm, I think he was finished around 4pm, and I remember him being in recovery forever. We finally got him settled in his room around 11pm.
Do you know her last name? I know the unit Roslin's DS'ers usually go to, if you want to try to call they might at least tell you if she's there or not

Nope, I never got her last name--just the first. And her voice mail doesn't give any name at all. Next time I'm an angel, I'll be sure to get a first and last name. I did ask if I could contact anyone for her--family, friends, etc. but she said no. So I'm limited in my contact with her. Let me know if you think of something else to try!

My surgery started around 7:30am and I wasn't in my room until almost 8pm. It might just take a little more time.

The staff there hopefully would supportive of the angel/support concept and maybe connect you to her room. Sending positive thoughts Marie's way!

Still no word on Marie? I hope she's ok. She was so worried about getting this surgery and then so excited when she found out she was approved. Maybe you could call the hospital and just relay a message to Marie through the nursing staff since it will be difficult to get info about her due to HIPPA. If she knows we are anxiously waiting to hear from her, maybe she or her BF will respond.

Maybe she didn't bring her computer with her to the hospital? I would think she's ok, just out of it, but a little word on how she's doing would be nice.
