I had terrible gas pains tonight at 9:15 pm....I'm trying to figure out if they were from my lunch at 2 pm, my snack at 4:30 pm or from my dinner at around 8:45 pm....how long does it take us to digest food enough to get gas pains from it? I DEFINITELY want to avoid whatever it was that was making me in such pain!

I usually will ache about 1-2 hours after eating something that doesn't agree with me. My bet is on your dinner. What did you have?

For me it varies. If it's a solid food (think something like bread) it can be several hours, like 4-6. If it's a liquid like juice or The Evil Huckleberry Milkshake and its equally evil minions the fast food shakes, it's 30-60 minutes. Some other offenders fall in between those two extremes.
I'd suggest looking at the fastest-absorbing carbs first and going backwards from there.

It really varies. Probably not lunch, but could have definitely been the snack or the dinner. If you post what you ate, I can try to find out what it was based on what others have complained about having issues with.

My Eggs Benedict from breakfast are suspect for a gas attack at 7 pm. Relentless !!!! happened 2 days in a row on our trip.

Veggies---raw ones, anyway---have a very short transit time for me. Meats and cheeses take about as long as they did pre-op.
Sometimes tomatoes scare me. (*grin*---until I remember I ate them.)

For a snack I had about a cup and a half of popcorn covered in butter (I've tried popcorn before and it hasn't hurt my belly....) and for dinner I had a chicken breast stuffed with feta and spinach, but didn't eat any of the feta/spinach mixture and maybe only ate one ounce of the chicken. Maybe there was something carby about the sauce they marinated the chicken breast in?

Popcorn doesn't agree with me for some reason. I see a lot of people eat it without any issues but it gives me stomach pains within about 30-60 mins.
