I'm researching protein powders. I've been told about Champion Nutrition, is this the protein of choice for most DSers? I used to use BSN, but it's loaded with carbs. What are your favorite brands/flavors?

What are your favorite brands/flavors? Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Stack is my protein of choice, but personal preference really plays a big role in choosing a protein powder. What one person loves, another can't tolerate at all. Your best bet is to order samples of different brands and different flavors to see what suits you. In addition to answers you get on your own thread here, you can do a search of the entire board and read some of the previous discussions, ideas, suggestions, etc. that have gone on. Hint: When you enter your search criteria I would ask for a search covering the past 30 days as well as ask for a high number of returns - like 200 or something like that. There is a lot of good info to be found here.

Unjury Zero Carb. It's a little pricey, but tastes pretty good. I like the dutch chocolate and the vanilla best. They also have an unflavored powder that you can stir into *anything*.

I think it's a matter of personal preference, similar to asking someone what their favorite drink is. I tried them all, and for me Champion chocolate wins hands down. And I'm not even a big chocolate fan.
Vitalady sells samples, you can order a bunch from her and try them before you invest in a big jar.

Order a bunch of samples from Vitalady and see which ones appeal. Remember that what you like now might gag you postop, but at least you'll get a sense of what's out there.
I wouldn't use any Unjury product EVER on principle.

Thanks all. I plan to order samples anyway, but chocolate and vanilla were my faves in the BSN. Just wanted a snapshot of what people are gravitating towards. I creep the main and DS boards mostly, I should've done a search first. Sorry!

Just nosey, I don't use it any way. What's wrong with Unjury? I'm with pktwatch. I use the cheapest Walmart brand, Body Fortress. It has 26 grams protein per scoop and 4 carbs per scoop. I can make a 52 gram protein coffee with half and half for a whopping 11 carbs. You can get the protein powder for like 13 or 14 dollars for a tub. I think it works out not on sale to .60 per scoop Order samples and try before and after the ds.

Everyone is very different with their likes and dislikes of protein powder. the only type I can use without wanting to hurl my insides up is Syntrax Nectar, because it's thinner than the other protein mixes and I find the sweetener they use in it less bilious. What you can count on though is that if you like the taste before the DS, you may not necessarily like it after the DS. Go the sample packs.

Other than it being a Whey Protein Isolate, I don't have a "favorite" because they ALL make me gag. I can't tolerate them-- at all. My best advice is to get yourself a cheap pair of nose plugs at the Walmart. Mix up your 4-6 oz of protein shake, pop on the nose plugs, chug the shake, rinse out your mouth and you're good to go. I get in my protein and haven't tasted a bit of it. For me, I don't drink a protein shake because I ENJOY it. I drink it for my health. LOL!

Yup I use the GNC Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard™ Double Rich Chocolate. I tried a bunch of flavors through vitalady and this was about the only one I can stand. 3 cards and 24 protein per scoop.

I like the fruit drink protein lemonade packets best. Tastes like lemon meringue pie. Packets are easy to travel with, keep in your purse, or pocket. Order from Diet Direct on line, or GHP store Grand Rapids.

My favorite of the MANY I've tried is Dymatize brand Elite whey protein in chocolate mint flavor. It mixes well (not clumpy) and doesn't taste "proteiny" to me. I buy it from netrition.com or vitacost.com. 24g protein and 2g carbs per scoop.

The only one I really cared for was Champion Nutrition. In the beginning, I would drink "shots" of Banana Scream. It went down quick. Painless. I later ventured into their chocolate that I used to mix with my coffee, that I can't stand the taste of now. It's weird, I used to CRAVE it.
Everyone's taste is different and can change from time to time as well.
Good luck!

I love Chocolate Champion Nutrition Pure Whey Stack. My nephew gifted me a smoother blender for Christmas. I mix a double shot of it with water and ice and it goes down like a milk shake. Now if I could find some carb-free malt mix, I would be in heaven. I do not have the link but many make a coffee mixture out of the protein mix. I just can't drink sweet coffee, but what a great way to start the day packed full of protein, coffee and cream!
