I am 4lbs from a normal BMI and 20lbs from my goal weight. My AIC went from 6.9 on meds before surgery to 4.9 6 months later on no meds.
I have had a rough go of it with nausea and vomiting because of hormones so I eat what doesn't make me sick. I get my protein in but I do not count carbs at all. However, I don't eat any sugar ever because it just does not appeal to me at all.
I am amazed and grateful for this awesome gift.

Thanks. It's amazing how awesome the DS is. In Dec I lost about 8lbs and then in January I dropped another 15 and it was pretty darn effortless.

Thats a very fast loss!!! Can I ask, do you feel OK? Nausea can be draining. Are you able to exercise? When I was not able to get in all my protein I had hair loss, just a bit. They say it happens to most at about the 4 month stage. Good thing you were able to have your protein in spite of the nausea. Congratz on your loss!!!!

In the past month or 2 I have really started to feel better. I haven't thrown up at all in about a month. Now, just so newbies know, my nausea doesn't really have anything to do with my DS. I had a hysterectomy and was pumped with tons of progesterone while in the hospital and the residual effects lasted forever. I also just have a very strong gag reflex because of being so sick with both my pregnancies.
I did take Zofran occasionally but haven't in awhile. I get some of my protein from food but I also do a double protein shake everyday. I can eat a good amount of food but I can't eat any dry meats so sometimes I have to hide my meat in carbs just to be able to stomach it. I get my vites in but honestly I struggled with it for months and months.
I don't exercise other than cleaning house and taking care of my 2 little kids.
Thanks everyone.

Congratulations on your weight loss. You will be at goal before you know it. Did the nausea stop on its own?

Yes, the nausea stopped on it's own. I think it was partly in my head because of how sick I was while on the hormones.

Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. As I anxiously await my surgery date it is very helpful to read stories from people who have "been there and done that"
