I would just like to share something that might save some folks some tears, hair tearing, and psyche bashing. :}
Some folks have goals that are outcomes, that they will weigh X, that they will be size Z AND that they will do it in Y period of time.
Having a goal be an outcome is often as substantial as a fart in a windstorm. We cannot control the when of an outcome.
Our *behaviors* can be controlled. Consume at least minimums in protein, consume at least minimum of water, take supplements, GET AND TRACK YOUR LABS OURSELVES!
These are things that, when done, are non negotiable WINS!!
I have seen so many people totally trash themselves and the hard work they have done by, say wanting to lost X lbs by X month, and then when they get there, even being 2 pounds from X they totally trash ALL their efforts and hard work - for what? For 2 pounds? So? You havent accomplished ANYTHING because you ONLY lost 28, 38, 48, 98 lbs instead of 30, 40, 50, 100?
Please dont let this whole thing rob you of your common sense!
Our hard work is STILL HARD WORK at 98 lbs like it would be at 100 pounds!!
And guess what? Once you hit the "elusive" GOAALLL!! Know what we do different then?
*chuckle*
Not much, my friend. SOSDD for the most part.
Find a liveable pattern, learn to be an experiment of one and watch your progress with curiosity and not ruin the whole thing with someone else's expectations, remember your history with foods before so that you might take care to not diddle with those foods until you are in a place where you have more wiggle room.
Happy, healthy, and whole!!
Nobody cares about this more than you!
And I will tell you a truth, you may get fired, you may be cheated on, get divorced, have a loved one pass, wish a not so loved one would pass, but the truth is - when you heart is broken you wont give a shit what size your ass is, and trouble comes if you are human, its not IF, its WHEN, so take care of yourself, make good self care habits. For many of us, our decline in health wasnt just a portion issue, maybe for some, but not all of us.
Be sweet!
Peace out klownz!
edit to change general "you" to royal "we."

So true Brandi, kudos to you...theres a saying that goes:
No one imagines that symphony is supposed to improve as it goes along, or that the whole object of playing is to reach the finale. The point of music is discovered in every moment of playing and listening to it. It is the same, I feel, with the greater part of our lives, and if we are unduly absorbed in improving them we may forget altogether to live them.

Most excellent post Brandi.
This is a hard lesson to learn, but one that gets more important as one ages.
I have decided to focus on getting my pre diabetes under control. I am not eating sugar or grains. Also, trying to keep all cabs below 60. High fiber low crab veggies are my friend.

Brandilynn, sometimes. many-times you post something that I feel the need to print, beautify away from the computer screen and tack up someplace that I look at it frequently.. or at least give a sideways glance to from time to time.

Lovely post.
For me, it's combination of both. Positive outcomes reinforce good behaviors. Since I've started transitioning to 'maintenance' I find it's still pretty much SSDD (as you note) but with more calories.

Brandilynn,
Thank you thank you. Of course I want to be thinner. But you're right - being thinner is a just an outcome of a saner relationship with food. (((Hugs)))

Good think I don't count fat grams. I can never ever get below 50%.

Ohhh! I "invented" another cole slaw I really like! I take the slaw stuff, mix in some greek yogurt and a fork full of my favorite green salsa!!
Crab would be good in that. Crab would be good in regular cole slaw!!
Fat isnt a problem for me. The only time a stick of butter EVER posed a problem was when there was a sleeve of crackers in the cabinet. ha! No. Really.

Love you Hound Mama! As always, you toss out great things to think about. I think that too often we keep our eye on the prize and forget to enjoy the journey and revel in the daily miracles in spirit that happen along the way.
We may never get to the "end" because of life's circumstances. What a shame it would be to not twirl, giggle and be amazed along the way. I vote for finding daily joy on the path. If we do the "right things" today, tomorrow takes care of itself.
