Well, I haven't talked much about my hernia. I've had it for a year. I know when and how I got it. Playing with my granddaughter wayyyyy to soon after having OPEN surgery. NO Lifting. Also, it was 3 months post op.
I went to a consult with a general surgeon, who ordered a CT scan. He says he can make me have "bowel sounds" by pushing on the hernia. He wants to see what he's getting into.
As of right now my surgery will be lap, with a 50% chance of having to switch to open. He says with the bowel in there, there's a chance of nicking the bowel. If this happens he will have to open me, repair the bowel, which will make me have more malabsorb. My CC is already 75.
He is very familiar with the DS, this is why I chose him and he's done over 2000 hernia repairs. I will be in the hospital for at least 24 hours. Maybe several days, depending. Like I said, 50%.
Right now I'm preparing for an open surgery and if he can complete it lap, I'll be pleasantly surprised! I can't wait to get this stupid thing fixed. I look like an alien is trying to escape. Will try to add pic!

So funny you say that, I call my hernia my "alien love child!" I'm having DS next Thurs and he hasn't really discussed what he has in mind for the hernia at this time. I'll follow this to see what comes of your experience.

I have a huge hernia and would like to have a TT at the same time. I was quoted 6000 for the TT part with insurance covering the rest. Pretty discouraging. I hate the hernia.,,,makes me look pregnant.
