I have not been re-sleeved. I know of a few. Dina McBride is one and I will hunt up her website for you. She had a plethora of problems afterwards but they were not due to the re-sleeving procedure, she was taking Ibuprofen like candy for pain issues and burnt holes in her new tummy.
Another member that I am not sure where she is at, BettyB was re-sleeved and doing well.
Another that I can't think of her name, Melontwist on OH, she has had numerous serious problems and I am not sure if all of them were caused by the re-sleeve or not but some of them were.
The stomach, like any other organ, I suppose, will only stretch so far and as it is stretched it gets thinner and thinner. IF it were me wanting to be re-sleeved, I would only want a VERY experienced surgeon, I mean very experienced in re-sleeving along with the DS intestinal portion.
It makes a difference how your original VSG was done, how it was cut, where it was cut, etc... We are seeing some messed up stomachs from surgeons that jumped on the VSG bandwagon without adequate training (in my mind) and to fix one of those may be a challenge.
My original VSG, (which I had in conjunction with the DS intestinal portion was made 4-5 ounces and now 6+ years later I can eat 8 to 10 ounces, depending how dense the food is, I also have days where I cannot eat much. I guess I am telling you this because you may want to re-think wanting a re-sleeve.
I have no idea how small your stomach was made in the first place and how much smaller it can be made now.
I hope one of our people that wa actually re-sleeved will chime in, but I want you to know that this is not an operation to take lightly and you want an experienced surgeon who won't give you what you want if it is not feasible and who will do the best job if it is feasible.
Good luck to you and if you don't get many answers, bump this up once in a while.
Are you on FB? If so, friend Dina McBride and include a brief msg about re-sleeving. She just went to Spain for additional surgery but my be back by now, be patient, this is about her millionth surgery for a multitude of issues, most not DS related. Her DH has a DS and her young son has a VSG.
