I had a terrible pain in my side last night. Stabbing, almost popping pain, on the lower left. Happened while I was in the bathroom, and after that it hurt whenever I moved. I went to bed and slept well, got up this morning and it was tender but nothing like last night. It felt like a muscle cramp or something, but pushing. It's hard to explain. Now I don't feel it, despite food shopping and laundry.
I wish I had the time to get down to Dr. Greenbaum because I think it might be a hernia, but right now I'm so freaking busy!
Anyone have anything similar happen?

No idea but wanted to bump it up so you might get an answer. I had something like this happen a couple of times pre DS and thought it was a muscle spasm.

It may be an hernia, I had similar pain for years but centally and at my ds surgery Dr Gagner picked up an umbilical hernia and repaired it. I felt the pain most when having a BM and it would be tender for a few hours after.j

Could be diverticulitis... I had that a few years ago-- it was easily treated with antibiotics. Go to the doctor before it gets worse!

Yes, I have diverticulitis too. It has improved since the DS. Have you ever been checked with a colonoscopy? Because of my history I was asked to have one before surgery.

Still have your ovaries...could just be a bigger than usual cyst popping.

Still have your ovaries...could just be a bigger than usual cyst popping. AGREE!!! If you still have your ovaries, it is probably a cyst bursting. I've had this happen a few times. The first time, I thought my insides were falling out. I cried for 45 minutes, thinking I should maybe go to the emergency room but I was alone and couldn't move. But once it's gone, there's tenderness for awhile and then you're fine. If you're not in any more pain, it was probably a cyst.

My first two guesses would be ovarian cyst and kidney stone.

I had pain like that twice. Once from a ruptured ovarian cyst, once from diverticulitis. Hope you find out what it is and feel better.

I went back into the hospital about three weeks out from surgery for a pain that seems similar to what you're talking about. A sharp stabbbing pain in my lower right side of my abdomen. I thought I had pulled a muscle sleeping in the bed that night because it was the first time I'd slept 'flat' since before the surgery. Come to find out the docs think it was actually gas moving through my intestines and pressing against scar tissue.
They were right - anytime I'm a bit 'backed up' now, I get that pain again. So I take something for it.

I can't add to this, but to commiserate; I'm having a similar issue, sharp pain on lower right side of my abdomen. At first I thought it was a muscle spasm, since I've had a couple of those post-op, but this is different, going to see Dr. K today. I don't think it's a hernia or kidney stones, but might be anything else listed above. Hope you can get checked out soon and find the answer.

Hope it's nothing serious & you're feeling better now.

Wanted to check and see if you had any news, indication yet what's going on. I hope it's nothing serious. Mine looks like it might be a pinched nerve where my right JP drain was (inside). Had one blocking treatment where Dr. K injects marcaine, an anesthetic which numbs, and then hopefully relaxes and 'unpinches' the nerve. If it doesn't get better than it might be a hernia in one of a couple of places, but everything is fine with my actual surgery. Hope same for you!
