Do you/did you during the first year (or in general) keep your carbs under 50 even on work out days?
I am finding this hard to do, after cardio + yoga, i am more hungry the rest of the day- so my protein is higher on those days, but i also just eat more in general on that day so my carbs creep up to 80ish.
Any suggestions on avoiding this , or is this okay?

We might we able to offer some suggestions on keeping the carbs down if you post some specifics on what you're usually eating. But it sounds like you're doing great to me! That 50-carb rule is pretty much pulled right out of the air anyway. Listen to what your body is telling you, and don't stress.

I think upping your carbs a little if you're doing regular exercise, especially cardio is just fine. The main thing is to stick with complex carbs. One of my favorite things to eat before my morning workouts is a sweet potato. I nuke it so it's really mushy, now I'll be able to add butter. It's fast, quick and excellent for you. Carbs in of themselves aren't the issue, but the type. Complex carbs are better because they metabolize better, the body does the work to break them down, they don't convert instantly into sugar and fat like simple carbs do. Big difference if you're eating sweet potato, oatmeal, brown rice, quinoa, whole grains, vegetables, than white bread/rice, mashed potatoes, sugary cereal, chips, etc. You can always tweak as needed if your weight loss slows.

Where on earth do people get these draconian numbers? *scratching head*
Are you the person who's only getting in around 800 calories, or do I have you confused with someone else?

Um, that would be (or rather WAS) me, EN. But you showed me the light, and I've added fats and more complex carbs since then. ;D

I think it sounds like you are fine. I workout almost every day. I don't count my carbs, so not really sure what they are per day. I do try to limit foods with carbs, and always get my protein in first. As long as you are losing, your carb level is fine. My NUT told me not to change it if it's working. If your weight loss slows, then I'd start paying more attention to the carbs.

Max 50 carbs, plus increasing protein to 120g/day( no more than 150g protein), and adding more fat to prevent constipation was advised by my Nut to help me break my stall, and slow hair loss, after losing 80 lbs. I work out at the gym 4-5 days/2.5 hrs( with a trainer 2 times a week). Sip water while I work out to keep hydrated. 65- 75oz of fluids a day. I have lots of energy, and am making great progress with conditioning and toning. My hair loss completely stopped with adding more meat to my diet. I have a few complex carbs from time to time, but fill up on protein, as much as I can tolerate 4-5 small meals a day. I feel satisfied and full while dropping lbs. My fav foods are steak and chicken wings, rotisserie chicken, tuna/mayo,and creme sauces. My drinks have protein too.

I can't high-carb and exercise because of GI side effects. The carbs I do eat better be complex carbs or the only exercise I'll get is running to the bathroom and pushing the flush handle repeatedly.
