So I am adjusting to life after surgery. I am only 10 days past. I am just starting the mushy phase. I was wondering 2 things:
Do you have any good mushy recipes for the meats?
As I go more on food, the protein drinks (milkshakes) are going to be harder and harder to get down. I am thinking about going on the powder fruit protein drinks that I can just add into my water. What brand do you like and what flavor is the best?
Thanks!

Ginger, I like Unjury protein. I've bought their vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and the chicken soup flavor. www.unjury.com/store/protein/My first foods were soft scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, hot cereals and canned fish. Later on I added chili and meat that was cooked in the crock pot. My pouch tolerated foods that had some moisture in it. Make sure you chew your food until it's the consistency of applesauce before you swallow it. This will help avoid discomfort.Has your nutritionist given you any guidelines regarding your food?

Yes, she has but it was more like what to eat like canned meat, soft scrambled eggs, that kind of thing. No recipes for it. I think I am going to try Nectar protein powder for a change the milkshake types are making me not want diary the rest of the day. Thanks!!!

There is a recipe forum here that you might want to check out. People are adding to it all the time.

I love Chike, call me odd but I drink all my protein in skim milk not mixed fully. In order for me to feel like I ate something I need to have some chunks. Odd I know....

Syntrax Nectar Vanilla Bean Torte protein powder in coffee. I did half caf as a newly post op, but that was by choice. my doc had no problems with caffeine consumption. I got samples from every protein shake maker. DH and I had taste tests! He likes the generic stuff from Costco. THe only kind I use is the syntrax nectar line. I also used the Syntrax naturals (no dyes), but it was too sweet for me. I had to water it down a lot.

I have just found Designerwhey.com You can get Protein2go at any grocery store. I got mine at the Giant on Ridge Ave. Orange /Mango and it is pretty darn yummy! I sure do hope you enjoy it b/c I haven't had any side effects what so ever and I really sort of/kind of enjoyed it!

I get chocolate Calorie Countdown milk and add 1 scoop of Isopure Zero Carb protein powder. I usually have that for breakfast - it's yummy and it starts me off with 30 grams of protein.

I have found that I like the Nectar Protein powder, I like the fuzzy navel the best. The down side to it all, it that it is only 23g of protein and I mix it in about 16oz of water, hard to drink all of it...
