For the past few days my cheeks and nose have felt hot. Then yesterday it turned red and now I have itchy blotchy skin on my chest, arms, and legs. I figure it could be an allergy to something but I don't want to rule out vitamin deficiency.

Was this after taking your B-complex? Could be the classic Niacin flush... If it is, then totally harmless. How long did it last?

I was wondering about niacin flush too. Look it up, and see if those symptoms sound familiar. It is harmless, just uncomfortable.

Not Niacin flush, I'm thinking allergic reaction due to the red itchy blotchy skin and also the location of such.
Have you started using any hair re-growth shampoo like Rogaine? Get your hair dyed? You could be allergic to either one. Look at things you've RECENTLY started using, say in the last 2 weeks, no further out than that. That's where you'll find your answer. IMHO

Hmmmm. I'm kinda sorta in the allergy camp, too. It's a great time of year for cranky skin all around with the nasty dry indoor air.
It doesn't sound like niacin flush, especially because it has not subsided.
My sister has been plagued with something like this repeatedly. For her it seemed to be a sulfite sensitivity.
Another thought might be the onset of rosacea.
Don't just itch and scratch and put creams on it. Go to the doc and get it check out for real.

Yes, EN is right! Go see your doc! No point wondering, just get it checked out!

IMHO Just going to mention that niacin flush can make the skin blotchy red ( it did me, and made if feel prickly) as well as make some feel like they are having heart issues. I take an unbuffered type, and it's separate from my other b's, like not in my multi, so it hits harder than the niacin in a multi. at any rate, it can be surprisingly scary if you don't know what's going on. That said, I agree the chance that it can be an allergy, means it needs to be figured out, and if looking at what has been used lately doesn't rule things out, then a trip to the doctor is in order.

I developed skin issues after RNY. Roseacea, Sebhoreic dermatitis and regular -for no reason red welts, pimples and rashes,
But when I eliminate splenda - sucralose completely from my diet - after a 1-2 weeks splenda-free diet - my skin usually feels and look s better. So every time I get flare up - I notice a new product I introduced (like SF chewing gum) that has splenda...
Have no idea that may be the issue... and spent $$ on docs, creams, etc.

I get the exact same reaction -- feverish, red blotchy, itchy skin -- for about 10 minutes after I take the B complex. It only happens sometimes and started about 6 months after I began taking vitamins. It's not AS bad now as it was when it began, but it has not disappeared completely. Sometimes it happens; sometimes it doesn't. I've determined that if I take my calcium first, followed immediately by the B complex, there's less of a chance that the itchy, blotchy, fever-y uncomfortableness occurs. Just my experience.

Sounds like Rosacea to me.
If you have taken any steroids recently, flushing can be a side effect of those, too.

It was an allergy. I am on prednisone and the redness has gone away. Thanks everyone.
