Well im a little behind on posting and i havent taking pics yet:( but i wanted to give everyone an update.
I LOVE MY DS!!! As of today im down 45lbs since surgery, 66lbs total. 277 was my old nemesis weight which ive reached a hand full of times but only once in my adult life did i passed it. I was prepared to hoover around 277 for a few days but nope! Yesterday i was 278, today 276!!! Didnt even see that hated # on the scale! My official weigh day is wed. so i dont think im gonna weight til then just in case i fluctuate a little.
I miss some foods but have found other that satisfy my craving so i dont feel deprived. Instead of french fries i make pan fried green beans. I make sugar free flour free desserts, etc. I love fried foods and would love to eff up a sampler platter but thats just not gonna happen!
I really stay away from simple carbs. Im afraid to even add them. Ive had 1/4 a burger bun twice now but thats been about it. Im afraid if it goes down easy i will add more so i keep telling myself it will give me a horrible stomachache if i eat more than a few bites:)
My first week back at work was last tues. It went great. I was 1 day shy of having 9 weeks off. It was glorious but im glad to be back on schedule again. Everyone at works knows why i was out and theyve been super supportive. Ive been swimming in compliments for the last 2 weeks. Its a great ego boost!
I had to poo in my bathroom at work twice in 2 wks but it was really no big deal. I find besides the morning poo any other time of the day that i go its fast...marathon pooing:) I have my wipes and travel lysol spray and it was no bigs. My poos are very fragrant and the bathroom is in my office but between the courtesy flushing and the lysol everything was fine.
I finally found a protein shake i can do. Just plain egg whites protein powder then i SF chocolate syrup. It actually quite tasty. I do have to make it with lactaid because with water its kinda gross. Between food and 2 protein shakes im getting in 120 - 150 gm of protein.
Hopefully i will get pics up soon:) Thanks to everyone! Im so happy to have found the DS!

Congrats, you sound happy and positive :-) That's also really great you have such a supportive work environment, very cool. I'm just over 5 weeks out, revision to DS from RNY. The DS eating is a whole new world to me, the full fat way is a bit rich for my tastes, and taking some getting used to, but I'm figuring out the balance as I go. Simple carbs are the DEVIL, and the thing about them is if we eat it, we crave it. The good thing is now there are so many low-carb, gluten-free good tasting alternatives - buns, crackers, chips, tortillas, pasta, so we don't have to feel deprived. I find a do need a little starchy carb for the stomach acid, but I always use lo-carb options, eat the protein first. Starchy simple carbs are my achilles heel so I steer wayyyy clear. Wishing you continued success.

Good luck to you too!

Ah yes, cheese, THAT is the fat I AM excited about! I have always loved it and of course, steered clear because of the fat :-) It's still a bit rich for my tastes to eat a lot of it, but I know I'll have more balance when I can add in more solid protein/fats too.

I'm glad to hear that you're doing so well! Keep up the good work. Shelli Hi Shelli!!! Glad to see your face posting again! Im also glad that you are not giving up the fight. For me the DS has been a dream come true where as the lapband was a nitemare! Just seeing my weight loss and knowing that the lapband DID fail ME is amazing! I really wish they would outlaw it! All those year of self loath for nothing! The one thing that continues to amaze me is that im normally a very happy person but so many people comment now on how happy i am and that i almost glow with it! Im swinging critters furiously for ya babe!!! Biggest ones i can find!

Sounds like you're coming right along . I found a crunchy yummy thing by accident when I overcooked some asparagus I was roasting in the oven. The tips got brown and crispy and were DIVINE. If I had kept them cooking a little longer, more of the stalk would have been that way too. Kale chips are fabulous as well. Wash and very thoroughly dry fresh kale leaves. Spray or otherwise lightly coat them with olive oil and sprinkle with a seasoning blend of your choice, or just some salt. Put them in single layers in pans and bake them in the oven till crunchy. Watch them closely, though, because they'll go from perfect to cinders in no time flat if you turn your back.

But if i could purposely overcook it i will probably be golden! Potatoes are the one thing i have a hard time saying no to. Had 1/2 a snack bag of Vickies Kettle chips yesterday with my Chicken salad! Ugh. I will have to try the Kale Crisps. Ive really been happy with my other potato alternatives so far. Thanks EN:)

Congratulations! I also took off nearly 9 weeks. I had great short term disability insurance with my job and really wanted to take the time to make sure I was ready to come back. Truth be told I could have gone back sooner, but the extra time really helped me to settle into my routine. I think you'll find that your bathroom habits continue to settle down and you'll get in a pattern of what will be normal for you.
When I crave fried food, one thing I do is to wrap small balls of mozzarella in proscuitto (you could also substitute ham), and fry them in olive oil. The outside is crispy, yummy..and the inside cheesy and gooey. And all DS good.

I have so much time saved up that 9 weeks only put a little dent in it and i have short term disability:) Oh im glad to hear about the BM habits settling. I know it will happen but its nice to be told again! Oh my those cheese balls sound divine! I will definitely be giving those a try:) Thanks!

Great progress, Jennifer! Glad to see you are adjusting well and seeing those pounds come off.
I miss some foods, as well, and sneak in a bite or two every once in awhile but, as you are, I'm staying away from the simple carbs and trying to watch the volume I eat.
Congrats!

Thank goodness i only have hubs to worry about because i would definitely be sneaking in bit if more of it was available! But he is being good with me and we have not had any sweets or chip or any snacks in the house. I have has a few bites of fries on the very few occassions that we have gone out:) It sad but im so thankful that i can have fries. Its my 1 cheat food since i cant eat flour and because of my lecithin allergy i cant have any chocolate or sweet snack:( Dont get me wrong, im not cheating often but its nice to have a small break on occassion!
