This might be a really silly question but being a newbie i want to make sure:)
Ive had an upset stomach for 2 days. Not terrible and ive not eaten anything new. I keep waking up in the middle of the night to poo around 1am then again around 5 and then i go more when i wake up at 7. Its mostly formed BM til the end. I took an Imodium yesterday morning and today.
Im on the Nuvaring and my cycle has been all off since surgery. My body keeps trying to start a period every 2wks and i started spotting heavier than normal yesterday (i spot continuously with the ring cuz i cant take it out and have a period because it gives me a migraine, fun stuff i know!) and having some normal period cramps even tho im not due for another week or so.
Ive always had bouts of cramping, gas and diarrhea during my period and im thinking that what this is.
Thanks for any input:)

Honeybadger - This sounds like what I went through the first 6 months after surgery. I've always gotten looser stools and bad cramps, so I wasn't totally freaked out by it. Your body is also dumping hormones like crazy, so whatever PMS and menstral symptoms you normally got before the DS may be magnified. So long as you don't get dehydrated and can still function, I think your good. Kim P.S. - the period every 2 weeks finally stopped for me after 6 months. What a PITA!

That sounds like my experience both pre and post op. My period always have me the shits and a tummy-ache to boot.
I'm still waiting for the medical advances that will let us be fertile when we want to be and eliminate menstruation altogether without pills or strange devices.

You know, if you aren't in love with your Nuvaring, you might want to consider DepoPrevera. I was on it for a couple of years, and only had one period every 3-4 months - and I used to be a bleeder when not under the influence of hormones. (started BC at 14 because of horrible cramps and heavy periods that left me anemic.) Other women don't have periods AT ALL while on Depo. The only reason I stopped taking BC is because I'd been on heavy doses of hormones for over 25 years.

Since my surgery the first day of my period is spent laying down with a heating pad on my stomach, any freaking carbs I want, and a list of reason on why I hate men. Needless to say the cramps are worse since surgery, but only for that first day. I have always pooed more around my period then normal.

I have only had one period since surgery 5 weeks ago--and I got it the day after surgery. But, pre surgery, I always got tummy aches and diarrhea during my period. Yesterday I had really bad cramps and thought I needed to go to the bathroom--but when I went, the only thing I had was blood--the spotting at the beginning of a period. So, here I sit (now that I've read your post today) wondering if I'll end up with the runs during my period too!?!?! I guess I'll have to keep you posted.

Menstruation and menstruation poo are so 1699... I wish I could stage a protest, but I don't think it would change my uterus' mind.

Wow and here I was thinking I was the only one, while I thump my head on the table top trying not to scream in pain or rip my partner's head off when he asks if I'm doing ok. My period pain has always sucked but I'm finding since the op my usual medication for the pain doesn't work so well and I get nauseous from the cramps. Going to take a sleeping tablet and hit the sack early tonight and hopefully I'll be less likely to hurl abuse or stomach fluids at everyone tomorrow.

And JUST after I posted my last response to this thread, I started a VERY heavy period. It's the first since leaving the hospital. AND BOY DOES IT SUCK. It's heavy, I have cramps like I'm a teenager, and my stomach is definitely affected. Does the whole "Menstrual Synchrony" apply to the internet?!?! LOL.

I had to start my period a few days before my surgery. Yay..one more mess to deal with. I just had another one and SOB it is so much heavier. I had cramps and backache. Totally sucks. It has to be the result of stress from the surgery. Next month I will be back on my BC pills and hopefully they will be back to the lighter less painful cycles.

You (wielding whip and a chair) you get back into your room. Don't come out until you are only one person again Sybil. And don't try and hypnotize me with those wild crazy snake eyes either.......dirty estrogen bitches..... You're scaring baby Jesus.

FUCK! All this period talk apparently has made my uterus not want to be outdone. I've been bleeding like a stuck rhino since Sunday and I'm freaking tired of it!!! Not only am I exausted and edgy, but now I'm about ready to give in to my carb whore cravings and eat a bakery. I too am seriously going to kill someone if my cramps don't go away and people don't stop breathing so freaking loud around here.
For sweet bleeding Jesus' sake, I HAVE NO USE FOR THESE PARTS SO PLEASE STOP MAKING ME SUFFER!!! Where are the aliens that want to do experiments on humans when you need them? I'd gladly let them take my girl parts and try to make little hybrid mutants with my eggs so long as I didn't have my 'womanly gift' anymore! ENOUGH ALREADY!

That sounds like my experience both pre and post op. My period always have me the shits and a tummy-ache to boot. Same; I was so relieved when I finished my period before surgery; and I actually have one now, I'm 5 weeks out. So I got both of the above, with the added hunger increase and cramps, not much of a flow.
