Hello everyone! I have been doing non stop research of DS as that was recommended to me by my surgeon. It will be a RNY to DS revision. I am still in the stages of deciding whether or not to revise to DS, and doing my pre op work ups required by the doctor and insurance company. With a strong focus on supplementation, I have decided to follow VitaLady's pre op list. Any comments/suggestions are very welcomed! I know it's crucial to my healthcare to reach out to those of you who know better than the docs! Thank you so much for your time!
**Please note, this is a repeat thread as I am new and posted in the wrong category!

I follow the VitaLady program post-op, two years out, and everything is going great! Quite a number of others I know who did not follow these levels of vitamin regimen have had problems with their labs, and some serious consequences. If you are going to do a DS, it is important to get used to regularly taking supplements, as doing so is definitely not a choice, but an absolute! Good luck with your journey!

When I first had my DS 12 years ago, I followed my surgeon's vitamin regime and became very deficient very fast. I have been taking her vitamins for at least 8 or 9 years. I monitor my labs yearly and adjust accordingly.

Thank you both so much! I'm Not too concerned with my PCP being ok with me following VitaLady's recommendations, we talked a good hour the other day when I went to her for my "recommended and cleared" letter for DS, she doesn't have any DS patients (yet!) and will learn along side of me. Now who does concern me is my surgeon. He sells his own vitamins and I'm not sure how to go about saying "I'll do my own!".

That's a tough one if he sells his own! I follow the Vitalady regime but I do substitute some vitamin brands for hers. I follow the iron perfectly, however, and it is with that I'm having issues. I'm working on getting that straightened out! My primary doctor is learning with me, also. After seeing my loss and how things are, however, I can honestly say she is a true believer in this surgery!

I just stopped buying them from him. I suggest you never start buying whatever your surgeon is selling.

As we suggest how to deal with nutritionists; smile, nod your head, thank them, and then do what actually works.
In the interest of peace and diplomacy, I would buy one bottle, especially if he wants you to get them pre-op, then donate them to charity and be done with them. You should have no need to see him again.
