Are you getting 150g protein every day? No I average 120g a day, I struggle with getting protein, that explains why its low. I get so busy at work I do not get enough time in 8 hours to eat everyday. I created a weekly meal plan with specific time and added my meal time in my work calender. I am leaving my office for lunch everyday by going into my car and actually eating, no lunch time meeting or appointments. I am going to put myself first at work and at home; I hire someone to come help with cleaning and laundry and I cook for the house today for the week. This will give me more time for myself, to cook food I need and go back to the gym. I had a long talk with my husband while I was in the hospital we all have to change or lose everything. I told him if he was not willing to adjust than we could end it all. He said he will try. Good for you. At work you should think about having snacks in your desk or in your bag. Salami, cheese, a little pack of hummus, etc.

I am very proud of you and happy that you are in a frame of mind to make the changes you must make. GOOD FOR YOU!

Hi all Happy New Year!. Wanted to give you all an update- I saw my Hematologist he confirmed that I do not have neutopenia. Since my DS my white blood count just run low that just my new normal. my BP and cholesterol is also low, but that's my new normal. Iron is good I do not an infusion for now, maybe in 3 months. I saw my new PCP on Friday she order all new lab, some that the ER ran she reordered. She seems very willing to work with me and my needs, it took us 1 1/2 to get everything ordered and discuss what been going on. She spoke to my GI and they agree that it looks like I have IBS-C and maybe diverticulitis, I will know for sure this coming Friday. I am still having pain and constipation issues, but I am doing a regiment of Miralax and prune juice. I had to stop the colace with senna it was causing more cramps and pain, Also I am being careful with dairy and gluten. I am having 1 to 2 bm everyday since doing this. In a positive note since this happened 3 weeks ago I have lost 12.2lbs, I am not sure is it that am having BMs or not eating much. Hi Louteg! Sorry you have been having these problems. I do two Florastors a day, and make sure to try to get in at least 100 g of fat daily. Coconut oil can be used to make many yummy fat bombs which help reduce constipation. I can't say I've been so good - I sometimes supplement with chocolate and potato chips for the added fat. Lately, I have been diggiing using a bed of chips with four to five ounces of cheese for a fat bomby protein break. Good luck getting the guts under control!

Hi Louteg,
Doing well, thank you for asking! I have been away for the past two weeks on vacation. DW and I drove with our 5 year old from NYC to Florida and back, putting 3000 miles on the car. Clear sailing most of the way through, and avoided some of the ickier weather up north! Was very nice to visit family, which showered our little one with gifts, as we celebrate both Channukah and Christmas, so the little one now has a substantial share of the Barbie/Disney market!
On the DS side, I have kept my weight consistent, and have begun to exercise again as my New Year's resolution, putting in 2-3 miles on the elliptical every day, and starting back up with weights. I still have a problem of eating too much sugar with my fat intake. I am digesting well, but if I overdo the sugar, I get food coma crashes until I digest everything. Probiotics such as Florastor and yogurt have been working well. Vites are going well, and I feel pretty healthy. Overall, I have no major complaints! Happy New Year to you, and I hope 2015 is a good one! I will have to put the word out for a DS get together sometime in February!

Sounds like hypoglycemia to me. You have to avoid simple carbs, and you have to eat every 2-3 hours and include protein and complex carbs every time.

Gotta get that sugar consumption under control. Seriously. Sounds like hypoglycemia to me. You have to avoid simple carbs, and you have to eat every 2-3 hours and include protein and complex carbs every time. Working on it NYB - I definitely get in enough protein, but if I don't get in enough fat, I get backed up severely, and the distress is worse than the hypoglycemia effect on my system. Trying to get better about using coconut oil and such. Weight has stayed constant, and labs all look good. Don't eat a lot of carbs otherwise. Most meals are the protein and maybe a veggie or a fruit. Lunch today was 6 oz of cheese and ham on a small (5 inch) stone ground corn tortilla (white flour bothers me, but all natural corn has been pretty good), and 2 strawberries. Having a protein shake right now. Mostly eat right, just sometimes gorge on the fat and sugar to get the system to move everything through. Seems to be working for me - I've kept the weight consistent now for 4 months, and I have been reducing the sugar filled episodes. I just have to be careful of milk chocolate and ice cream - they are my weaknesses!
