I have been trying to eat very clean, the past few days. Much of what I have been eating has been the chicken-and-mushroom meatloaf I bought from Zabar's. Good protein, with just a little low-fiber veg, easy to snack on, good stuff, right? So why is my stomach a HazMat zone? Why am I running to the bathroom every freaking 40 minutes?
I couldn't figure it out, couldn't figure it out. And then tonight, I'm sitting at the theater (and squirming, waiting for intermission, so I can sprint for the bathroom), and the lightbulb went on: BREADCRUMBS. Freaking BREADCRUMBS. You put them in meatloaf. And while I might have been able to cope with one or two slices, I have been snarfing this meatloaf for the past few days, just gobbling it up. And I guaran-damn-tee it's got breadcumbs in it, and that's why I've been feeling so crappy.
I still haven't remotely been able to get a handle on my GI problems, but I am quite clear on one thing: Things made from flour are not good for me right now. I don't know if it's a gluten thing, a grain thing, whatever -- I'm staying away from grain in general. But damn, breadcrumbs. I completely forgot about breadcrumbs.

Glad you figured that one out!
That is the reason I can only eat meatloaf which I have personally cooked. People put crap in EVERYTHING these days! Hope you get some relief.

I wonder if that is my issue? I have had the same tummy trouble all night you are having. We went to dinner last night and I got ribs thinking it was about the safest thing on the menu. I had my 4-5 bites and was done. I also tried hubs steak...I now know I like steak!! So I was thinking it was the sugar in the bbq sauce. This morning it dawned on me that I had a bite of a dinner roll. ONE BITE!! I wonder if that is what has caused my belly to ache and all my bathroom visits? Either way I lost weight for the first time in a week so I'll take the trade off....this one time

Carby fillers are VERY common in meatloaf and many products, and yep, breadcrumbs a staple of meatloaf recipes. Reading labels is key. I can't eat any sauces/gravies made with white flour, they kill me. Sugars in bbq sauces can be troublesome. I do ok with white flour/gluten bread when it's piled with protein and fat. And certain vegetables, fruits kill me too. Intolerances to carbs - good or bad - is common with the DS, and it's a matter of figuring out which ones are the triggers. Amy, you're still early enough post-op and just in the beginning of food progression, so it's normal to have problems while your insides adjust to the new things.

For future reference use parmesan cheese instead of breadcrumbs...that seems to help hold the meatloaf together. I know you bought this on but that just FYI.
Feel better soon.

Sometime I even use almond meal with a ton of Parmesan cheese. I use this sparingly as a breading for chicken. The agree to add the cheese to the meatloaf instead of bread crumbs.
