Hi! I am a total newbie. I will have surgery at Virginia Hospital Center next Thursday (a week) and just started pre-op diet. Hovering between fear, relief, and hope. Took 2+ years of research to make decision

Somewhere between post-Op and Maintenance. I met my first goal but now think I would like to lose about 10 more pounds but we'll see if that's possible.

I don't know what stage I'm in!!
I'm almost 13 months out and just hit my first goal weight. Now that I'm there, I wouldn't mind losing another 5-15 lbs but only if my body would promise that it would only come from my legs and no where else. But it hasn't made this promise and I'm not willing to kill myself to get those pounds off. Especially as I keep getting the "please don't lose any more weight" comments and my fiance told me things were "getting kind of gross" when we could see my ribs going across my upper chest. He's lovely, huh?
So, I guess I'm sliding into maintenance.

Hey Fawn!!
I guess I'm later-out? Less than 25lbs from my "normal BMI" goal.. and getting to the point that I think I want/need to push that number lower by 10-15lbs (which would mean uncharted territory for me, as I've never been lower than 155 in my adult body).. still losing at a faster clip than I expected at this stage of the game.. and still firmly with my nose to the food log daily.

newly post op revision - sorta back in maintenance.
more so learning that the sleeve is no lap band - DH would prefer i stop losing, but i can always manage a few more for safety.

My surgery was in November of 2010 - fixed my signature . I hit goal at a little over 1 year out so I lost a little slower than some but have been very happy with my sleeve!

I'm pre. I dithered on DS vs VSG for probably five years, but finally pulled the trigger on VSG and will be getting surgery in January.

Hi! I am post-op, had surgery Dec 19 with Gregg Jossart. I haven't taken the time to play with the footer etc here on the new site.
I thought I was having pain off and on in my stomach when drinking - then realised (duhhh) that is my full signal for now anyway. I am not hungry at all, amazing.
Thanks for the support, that's cool!!! My screen name is the same (minus _) but I didn't post too much on OH.

Wendy Hi Wendy! for the first month or two (for me it was more like 4) you can't really eat or drink too slow. don't worry, your capacity will go up.

I'm post op 6 months (actually six months yesterday!) I'm not at goal yet, but pretty close. I'm almost to a "normal" bmi, but would like to get to 150. My main issue post op has been getting in ENOUGH calories which is funny because I never thought in my life that would happen. but I have lupus and I think my body decided it didn't like that I had done this to it, so it sparked a gigantic lupus flare and I had so much swelling and inflammation, it was a struggle to eat anything at all. Now eating is easier, but I find it very easy to do what I'm "supposed" to do. This scares me, because I know that this easiness will not last forever. Amy

I am going with the sleeve just waiting for insurances final approval. Doc office said probably late January early February. I feel one way of preparing myself is by saving all the suggestions in different folders on my computer. Food and the different stages, exercise, blogs, what to bring to the hospital and the list goes on and on. I don’t think I can ever have too many details because everyone’s experience is so different.

I only hope he could say my clueless factor is so low! I am happy to embrace the real life part which includes a new job starting after next week. I'm also a little nervous to see if I can do the maintenance thing, but I don't ever want to go back to where I was, so I'm going to do my best.

I'm somewhere between postop and maintenance. I'm about 15-20lbs above normal BMI, but I'm completely happy with my size 6-8. Honestly, I'm trying to determine where those 15-20lbs could come from...
I've been a bit lax over the holidays so I'm going to try to refocus and see if I can get 10ish lbs off.

Almost 7 months out, 94 pounds lost. Settling in to this new life, but begin to refine some things, including going more low carb and addressing the reasons I have been fat since age 6.

I'm 11 months postop and at 102% EWL (Normal BMI) but 10-15lbs from my ultimate goal. The last bit is putting up a fight, lol.

I guess that you would say that I'm transitioning from postop to maintenance, slowly ramping up the calories (or maybe not so slowly, given the holidays and travelling these past couple of weeks!) I got within a couple pounds of my nominal scale weight goal of 190, though my actual goal is body fat %, and whatever scale weight correlates to that, and then gained back a couple pounds with all the meals out and less exercise over the holidays. Restaurant meals are always higher cal than similar meals made at home (at least at our home...) and typical holiday fare isn't the most responsible eating, either. Given that, my body fat % and muscle mass are in the proper "normal/fitness" zone and still moving in the right direction to be in the lower/middle part of that range, so the transition continues. Now that the holidays are (almost) past, I can get a dunking to calibrate our body comp scale and fine tune things a bit better.
