Hi all...I just found this board also and I like the feel of it already.
Me too!....not interested in any politics and the other places I have been are full of it; not interested in all the surgery bashing either, every body's body is different and who knows who follows their doctors orders anyway which is why I don't care who didn't lose how many pounds for how long... I am sure you get my drift.
I posted a few times on other places to give my support by sharing what I am going through for the younger ones and those my age....yes, I am a granny!...lol. I too am more interested in the "head stuff".
I can imagine the "dead horses" that get beaten. I am having my VGS on Monday in Mexico and I promise not to go on and on about it all....lol.

Hi Mom...I was raised up in Texas and never have been there, so this will be my first trip over there.
I forgot to add that I love the privacy here....does our post show up if we google our user names like they do other places?...lol.
I put the url under my signature at the other place...maybe get more members.

Even though I have a sleeve, I still consider myself a Lap Bander first and foremost. I spend most of my time educating pre-ops in hopes that they will not choose the band, but if they still want it then at least I tried to " Pay it Forward "
Please refer any pre-ops and those who need help with their bands to the Failed Bands Forum.
Thanks Lisa

I'm here, but only every couple days. The software and functionality of this site is not my cup of tea. Hope to participate more when the "new" version is out.

I lurk more than anything else over on OH, but it's apparent how much things have changed there. Too bad because I got such good info over there when I was first researching. I hope more find their way over here......we need resources for those really interested in learning about their WLS options.

I too hope things pick up here for VSG - after 10 years of planning surgery (RNY back then), it's finally happening next month, and I need support now more than ever! I've been a member on OH for 10+ years, though I lurked more than anything. Insurance approval in Sep 2001 was suddenly rescinded Jan 1 2002, just prior to scheduled surgery. I've entertained the idea of self-pay on and off throughout the years returning to OH time and again to read and research. However, the FB sharing stopped me cold as far as openly posting. The proverbial straw...

For now, I need to find out how to input all my info on here. -Maggie Maggie, it's pretty easy. Click on yourself/your avatar, and the page it brings up should have an "edit profile" link on it... Somewhere near the top, I believe. Don't hold me to it though, as I mostly use the mobile app and don't get a good look at the actual site very often. Good luck on your journey! And because I'm "one of them" I must ask... Did you consider the DS as one of the 4 options for WLS before deciding on the VSG? Just want to make sure you've been given the opportunity to make a fully informed decision before you have surgery...

Hey VL, I dont think you have to pledge allegience to one or the other, I think you can play at different friends houses without having to decide who is your bestest bestie, you know?
At least, they haven't made me sign a no-compete document yet! :}

I'm on my iPad so my typing isn't great, sorry. Anyhow the VSG is the best thing that has ever happened to me. These forums have helped me so much on this journey, thank you all. Anne

Just want to make sure you've been given the opportunity to make a fully informed decision before you have surgery... I just wanted to address this because I think it's a valid question and I know how passionately the DS'ers here advocate for the procedure...with really good reason! I did consider DS along with the sleeve and chose the sleeve. I was a relative lightweight at just 40 BMI. I'm 5'11, 40 years old and very active. No co-morbidities...just fat. All indications both physically and psychologically pointed to me being successful with the sleeve alone. I personally did not want the malabsorption of the DS as that surgery seemed to "radical" for me. I absolutely know that the very malabsorption that I rejected is what makes the long term result of the DS the best. it just wasn't for me. I think that sleevers and DS'ers can peacefully co-exist and appreciate the factors that make the right decision different for different people. I am glad this board is here.

Hi, I'm new here and so happy i found this site. I really like how this board is private as well. I dont think ive posted anything that OH would want to use on their FB site. I've scheduled my VSG for 4/5 in MX with Dr Ponce De Leon. I've never had surgery outside of my c sections. I'm very excited but also nervous.im a health care professional and work in a major teaching institution and medical center. So I know first hand all the things that can go wrong.
