Wow, I have just realized that I am over a hundred pounds down from my highest weight. This journey is such incredible fun. Tomorrow I am going home after a visit with my Mom. I havea whole suitcase full of clothes that nearly fit. And a wardrobe full of too big clothes that can be given away.

I weigh less than my Mom. I have never weighed less than my Mom. She is a very beautiful woman. Walking next to her, I always felt older, slower and less attractive. Now it is changing. Here she is with my daughter. When I imagined my size, I thought I would be something like my mother. Now I am beginning to think that I might be more like my daughter.

They are both beautiful women. You have some great genes. I have never been smaller than my mom either... So I understand that. How does she feel about that? I know that my mother would be happy for me but would struggle with her own issues.

I am eight months out from surgery and have lost 52kg in total, and 42 since surgery. That is 91 pounds. The last three weeks the scale has not moved, but I was well prepared for this happening.
Today I had one of my biggest NSV's yet. I played bowls. It is the first team sport I have participated in in years, and I could DO it. I know most people were pensioners, but it was amazing. I was on my feet all the time without needing to sit down. I could bend my knees, pick up the bowls and enjoy the heat. My body obeyed my mind and I got the hang of it quickly. At the end of the morning I was energized rather than exhausted. I am definitely going again, maybe even tomorrow. It was great being outside and making new friends who did not know the SMO me.
This is a happy day.

What a great NSV, Leonie! I was trying to picture you outdoors, meeting new friends, 91 pounds down... All was crystal clear except the vision of you 'playing bowls.' Had to google it since I had no idea what that was! Kind of a summertime curling without a handle, no sweeping and grass instead of ice! My favorite part was meeting new friends who never knew the SMO you! Congratulations !!!!!!!

Well, today is another landmark day. I have lost a total of 60kg from my highest weight, and 50kg since surgery nine and a half months ago. I have become a much stronger person. I am holding my own in a very demanding job, I am busy and active all day in the heat of summer, I am emotionally much more resilient. I like the new me.

So inspiring to watch the Leonie who was buried inside the layers emerge! Not being suffocated and held back now, the beautiful butterfly is flying out of its cocoon! So proud and happy for you!!!
(I know I am so sappy, but the changes brought on by our weight loss are many and so positive. Just can't help myself! )
