Today, six weeks ago, Dr Keshishian spent 90 minutes re-inventing my life.
I have lost 36 pounds since the day of surgery ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
All my clothes are loose. I can walk for an hour and a half. (at my own pace, and even up a steep hill) I did not need a seatbelt extender when I flew home from visiting my daughter yesterday. My wound is nicely healed. I can drink down half a glass of water and usually make the 64oz. I can eat lamb chops and spare ribs. I am beginning to manage all the vitamins (I find it hard eating anything at night) I have two 40g protein shakes and two small meals a day, with snacks like almonds, jerky and cheese. I chew everything very well and don't eat more than half a cup of solid food at a time. I have one or two bowel movements early in the morning. I have had bacon and KFC chicken.
I LOVE this life.
Thank you so much to: My host of LA angels, especially Girlrocker Dr K and his wonderful team My husband who gave so freely and abundantly My family and friends who have been super-supportive Every one of you here on the boards.
This bench is GOOOOOOD

LuLu - I am quite encouraged by your wonderful post! Congratulations on doing so well just six weeks out. Did I read you were actually on an airplane only 6 weeks after surgery? I really hope I'm able to do as well as you have done. Sounds like you are really doing great with everything, eating, vitamins, etc. Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much folks. It is great to be part of the DS Family. I have been flying all over the world- LA to south Africa ten days after surgery, to my daughter across the country at four weeks, and home again.
It seems I can eat any and all high protein foods. I, chew very well and add sauce like yogurt. I cannot tolerate pasta, although half a slice of whole wheat toast goes down fine. I try to have 50 -75g carbs, never more. I loved protein bars preop, but now sugar alcohol are the devil. I only have milk in tea, more gives me gas. Too much fat is not good, so bacon in moderation.
I keep thinking this is all too easy and something HAS to go wrong, but it seems like I am blessed all the way.

Today it is seven weeks. The scale shows no change this week, but my energy levels have increased dramatically. It feels like my body has figured out, for the first time ever, how to give me energy.
I had a lovely experience yesterday. We were bead-shopping and my Mom suddenly exclaimed that she was looking for me and had not recognised me from behind!
I cannot wear most of my old clothes any more. I used to have pants made with very high waists. now I can pull them up to above my breasts. The sleeves of all my tops are too long, and you can see all the way into the arm-holes of the short sleeve tops. Everything also seems too long.
Today hubby and I celebrated our 28th 'going out' anniversary. On this day he asked me to be his girl, and the next year we got engaged. Today I realized that when we lie beside one another, I am no longer 'higher' than him. Oh, and have I mentioned how good the sex is?

Haha, cracking up over the laying next to the hubby and realizing you were no longer "higher" than him!!! Glad to hear the sex life is alive and enjoyable, my husband said he's going to be terrified to touch me for months after the surgery for fear of hurting me or bothering the incision (I'll have to convince him otherwise!)

Congrats on such a great recovery. I will be 8 weeks Friday. My weight has not changed this week either. I just figure the body has some rearranging to do.
All the changes gets some getting use to. Hope it keeps on being smooth sailing for you.

We went window shopping in one of those malls where everything comes in those beautifully embossed bags. I could actually try on the clothes! I was looking at pants and wondering if they would fit. The attendant said: "Sure, you are small down there". I love the "Earth Addict" clothes. I could not believe the image I saw in the mirror.
Then we waited more than an hour to be seated, drank Rose, had salad with rare sirloin, and shared cheesecake. Yes, I had perfect creamy, dreamy baked cheesecake.

It is nine and a half weeks and today I am super excited. I went to my doctor and he could use a regular blood pressure cuff! I am down 40 pounds since surgery and am 63 pounds down from my highest weight.
Dr Keshishian is amazing. He even mailed my doctor the surgery report and a poster.
Yes, I do feel like a DS poster child. The only negative I have had is that I seem to have become lactose intolerant. So now I have tubs of whey protein blend that will have to wait for this to pass. Otherwise I have had none of the typical side effects.
Oh, two weeks ago I bought my very first pair of shop jeans, the stretchy jegging kind. Sadly they did not fit as the waist seemed too low, especially at the back. I decided to try them on again before returning them, and they fit perfectly!
