It's transformed my life! As of Saturday I'm the proud leasor of a quarter horse named Chopper! I rode him yesterday. I could not have done that 8 months ago. And with my weightloss I was able to seat well and really ride!!!!!! It's been over 25 years. I'm going to teach my boys to ride too.
Went out to eat 3 times this past weekend, I've got a weeks worth of meals out of it LOL. Gotta love that too!! Steak, chicken wings, chicken parmesan, yummy!!!

Kudos & congrats on the horse! I know I wouldn't have made it to the size I am without it, and to boot- I feel normal around food, and feel totally satisfied on what I eat. In decades past, I'd "diet" at the same levels I'm at now, and NEVER get that feeling.. it was always a huge struggle. Now, I can eat the way my body requires and be happy about it.

I so agree, I feel normal around food now. Happy with what I eat, I don't want or need more. It's so freeing!

I am nearly at my three month anniversary, and nearly 50 lbs down. It is amazing. Yesterday, I ran for the first time in years. I felt like shouting in joy the whole time.

That is so wonderful.
I can imagine an iron horse (motorcycle), but I have memories of falling off a horse, lying totally winded and the bugger goes and stands on my foot. - and everyone is standing around, commisserating, without noticing what he is doing.
That was 30 years ago and the last time I was on a horse.

Awe, sorry your first experience with horses went that way. I will say Horses do not know what they are stepping on... mine as a kid once destroyed my foot, crushed several small bones, tore all the main tendons and tore off two toenails (large and next one over). That was horrible. I fell off my friend's horse like 10 times in a row and she had to stop me from getting on again. I was trying to learn bareback, that's how horse crazy I was and am. I was determined, falling was just a bump in the learning road LOL

That was 30 years ago and the last time I was on a horse. I used to show hunter/jumper when I was much younger and my horse would toss me off constantly. It got to the point when the jumps were big (over 4 feet) and I would know he was going to do it....got so good at it, I would land on my feet and give him the stare down!!!! His name was Spooky...and that's exactly what he did...spooked at Everything! But you have to get back on. You should really try riding again. It is my dream to have horses again......there really is no feeling like long ride on a sunny day.

lwtg - I did get back on and it was a deal winner! I'm hooked again, can't spend enough time riding LOL. I got to a point where a friend was teaching me to jump, but I'm so uncoordinated it was not going well. However one time my own horse pulled one of those "run straight for a fence and stop on a dime" tricks and he would throw me almost over his head. One time I landed standing next to his shoulder and promptly wacked his shoulder and yelled at him. He never did it again, I think he just needed me to prove I could take the big monster on LOL!!!
Hope you get back to riding too! Leasing is a great way to go!

There are some great barns around here, and I think starting a lease would be a great reward for hitting my goal weight!!!!! :-)

Your story is very inspiring. It is making me think of what I would like to reward myself with as a weight loss incentive. I always wanted to go on those bike trips through New England. You ride by day and lunch at quaint shops spend the night at bed and breakfasts but it always seemd a little out of reach. thanks for the inspiration.

MsVee - I'm not at goal! For me, monotonous exercise will never work, I hate it with a passion. Treadmills, running, Wii Fit, videos - I hate them all LOL. I love being outside and doing stuff. I've got another 20-30 to go but I can physically do this now, so it's both exercise and something I love dearly. I recommend as soon as you feel you can do it - go for it and don't wait!!! In my opinion, this is only going to help me with the last 30 And prior to WLS I was already on the quest to start living my life again, so there's a lot more "selfishness" in me now, I don't feel bad for spoiling myself with something like this, and in my case the awesome bonus is having my kids not only join me in it, but love it with me.
