My parents came to see me. Now granted, I see them on average once per month so everytime they see me I'm a size or two smaller.
I'm sitting hear wearing my birthday outfit from my mom, size 14, she got that thinking it would fit me in the future. The pants have already loosened up today LMAO.
The shirt is a L, fits fine, not tight.
Regardless of being nearly a size 12, I still weigh about 190ish (give or take 2. So again as we've already beaten to death, my BMI chart goal of 135 isn't going to look good on me. I'm not a size 2 build, you would see every bone in my body protruding at that size. I was "underweight" at a size 5.
My mom and dad had a horrific reaction when the response to the question "what does your surgeon want you to lose" and I said 50+ more, and they went "oh my God do not lose that much more, that's insane, you did this to be healthy, not emaciated". I had to laugh because I wondered if this would happen to me (others talk about it) and it is already.
No worries, I'm confident with myself I don't need to fit a chart nor am I doing this to be "skinny". For now my goal is size 10. I'll see how I feel and look at that point. To be honest, I could see myself preferring size 12, I'm just going to see at that point and decide.
I already can do all the stuff I wanted to. My newest venture of leasing a horse is already in the works!! I'm already talking to people about it.
Interesting to be on this side of the fence after 20+ years MO.

Parents are fun. My moms first reaction to my surgery announcement (after the fact) was don't get too small! I was almost 300lbs and she was worried about that.. now she's telling me it's time to stop. I'm still in snug 12's, with a big belly. :/ They are big MO people, who raised big kids.. they have no idea what normal is. I just smile and tell them I'm being healthy, and not to worry.. then get the same comment three different ways! You can't win!

LOL! Mine aren't MO, but yes, my mom is big - either top end of overweight or bottom end of obese. My dad is typical man, gets a beer belly then loses it easily. I have the hanging belly issue, but I also think I have fat that's buried. I have odd places I'm "puffy", like the back of my hip bones. I think my pelvic area which has always been my high weight area (lower belly, hips, thighs) has a lot of deep fat that needs to come off. I'm kind of expecting to not have a lot of size changes even if I keep losing quickly.
But yeah I was over 300 so I think it's hard to remember that and see us now.

Oh, I can relate to this.
I'm still not at normal BMI, nor do I think I'd ever be (I'd need to lose another 20 lbs...which would probably put me at size 2? given that I'm currently a size 6/8; S/M...I can never see how that will happen). but when I was around 180/190, my mom was FREAKING out. and when I informed her that I should lose another 50-60 if I wanted to be "normal", I thought she was gonna die.
My mom is tiny but suffers from some pretty severe body dysmorphia. My father is SMO and one of my main motivations to have WLS in the first place as I've seen the toll all of the excess weight has had on his body.

I really hate the charts. I know that some people fit in them, but most of us don't. You have to get to where your body is healthy and you are happy. Who cares what the number is. Congrats on doing so well.

Even with your parents sometimes you just have to smile and nod. LOL.
Congrats on your continued success!

I find it common among my friends that have had WLS of parent "concerns" they are too small. I still hear it and if I lose a lb or two my mother goes on her sermon speech again.
I've even been told they are concerned I'm anorexic, I'm not.

For almost 35 years my mother has been yelling me to lose weight. Now she doesn't miss a chance to tell me not to lose too much....

I can relate on the pre op side. My parents have been on me for years about my weight and they are on the low end of overweight but over 70 and have been really careful about their weight all their lives. Tendency runs in the family. Both my grannies were obese, my uncles, aunt, me! and i am not telling them about the surgery because they will stress me out completely and I fully expect after to get the same reaction as you are getting. They care.. they may not know how to express it supportively but they do care.

So true about the family dynamics. Being "un fat" is ok, being thin is scary to them and unfamiliar. I love my parents dearly so I was not upset about it but it's kinda funny when you think about it!

Parents are funny. Mine said she lost some weight running, and suggested why dont I try that instead of surgery. I was like, wow, never heard of that. Why didn't I think of it sooner. Lol. Gotta love mommies.

I'm more pleased with myself in a 12 than in a 10. I think I look too scrawny when I go below a 12. At the moment I'm closer to a 14 and might eventually decide I want to lose ten pounds, but we'll see about that.

It's so funny, my mother just emailed me last night and said "I'm worried, don't get emaciated. Having a layer of fat is helpful if you get sick". What the hell??? My mother is the only skinny sister in a fattish family. Boys are all trim, girls are all chubby but not huge. She is also a nurse. It's so funny how parents react to this. That's everyone's concern "don't get emaciated". Yeah, ok. Like I'm going to get down to 110lbs? I love to eat too much. I'm just hoping I can get to the point where I am no longer "overweight" on the charts! Oh, and PS, I only had surgery 2 weeks ago! It's not like I'm dropping tons of poundage!!!! Moms are nuts.....
