I know, cry me a river right? I'm out of all my hand-me-downs, I'm in a regular 14 so my last dying pair of 16 work pants are hanging off me bad. My 16 jeans still fit very comfortably. I have 5 shirts for work. 1 casual shirt.
I don't know when to buy new clothes. I'm tired of everything fitting for a month.
How do you decide when to finally get a wardrobe? I plan to lose 30 more. I'll be about a 10 or 12 I guess. Given my build I'm thrilled with that.
So is goal a good time to get a wardrobe? Thinking tax return here..

For now, go to Goodwill and the Salvation Army. Find yourself two or three each of bottoms and tops for work. You'll be amazed at the deals you can score. Just today at a local thrift shop I scored a NEW WITH TAGS cardinal red Pendleton wool skirt for five bucks. Original price tag said $94.00.

Good time for a new wardrobe? After you get to goal except for underwear/bras/swimwear. Google thrift stores or consignment shops in your local area. We moved in Sept and I found about 5 right in my area...one of my favorites is also a national one, called Amvets Thrift Store www.amvetsnsf.org and those of us who have served or are a service spouse get 25% off everyday (have to have a military ID card OR a copy of you/spouse DD 214). I stopped going to Goodwill once I found it. If you really want new, clearance racks/end of season sales. Just remember, the size you are now is not the size you will be in a year, so be careful there. And don't buy too early for something either. Liz

I hit the Goodwill shops. Leave the little tag thing on until you wear it though. I have purchased some clothes only to never wear them while they fit.. since they only have a 10 or 15 day return policy, I just go in, buy more.. then return the stuff I can. They ring up as blouses, jeans etc.. So I buy like and return like.
I also try and intentionally buy items like jeans on the snug size.. it's nice to have a pair fit one month when they didn't last month. I have donated many 55gal drum sized bags of clothes.. I am very clothes poor too. But, Goodwill is cheap, and I do find as I'm hitting the normal size L/14's, I can find some really nice things. I need to go get some 12's to aim for now.

Wish we did here. Liz

It's worth repeating Until you get to goal the best places to go are Goodwill and Salvation Army, local thrift shops and consignment shops. Every few weeks I pop in one of these guys and drop about 30 bucks for about 5 outfits. I don't feel guilty about buying clothes and I am helping out a good cause. The leftovers I either donate back give to charity (local domestic abuse shelter) or go to clothing swaps with.

I stuck to clearance racks as thrift stores just didn't have anything for me. I'm petite so pants were always too long. Occasionally I found a dress or top that didn't look ridic on me, but for the most part, Old Navy was my saving grace. Their jeans and pants on super sale are cheap enough to buy a couple pair in each size as I got to goal.

For shirts: clearance racks! Walmart, Target, etc. I can beat Goodwill prices most of the time ($7 for a shirt at my Goodwill) and most of them aren't in that great of shape. I have done well with just 3-5 shirts (work wardrobe) and 3 pair of pants right now. I know my size will change again...
Congrats! It's a great problem to have!

First off If you don't live near one that gets decent donations it doesn't matter how good your skill it'll still be hard to find something. Secondly, Every week they offer a half off discount on a random color of tag. That color lasts all week and starts on Sunday. So on Sunday or Monday I'll go there and ONLY buy that color. My Goodwill is pretty good and a decent size even still it takes a lot of digging through sometimes until I find some things worth while. Jeans are almost always a hit though and so are sweaters. If you wait until later in the week all the good stuff will be gone. Going the last week of the month is best. Most people shop there in the beginning of the month and pickings are slim

They have a 25% off sale going on all clothes and shoes.
