Ugh! I am about to start my liquid diet and I have a cold. I know it's just a cold and nothing more sinister. I'm wondering if my doctor will make me reschedule. I have a slightly sore throat, nasal congestion, sneezing and some coughing. No fever, no chest congestion, and no signs of throat infection.
What do you all think? Would a simple cold cause my surgery to be rescheduled? I go on Thursday for my preoperative h&p.
Any info would be appreciated--even if it sucks, lol!

I read that as long as you don't have a fever you should be ok ( don't know for sure though as it could depend on your surgeon). I was concerned too when I recently got a cold. Thankfully, it went away.

I think that happens more often than not.

I had a cold two weeks before surgery it didn't go away until 2 days before my DS surgery. I took sudafed, Benedryl and a homeade concoction/elixir that's been in my family for several generations. I drank it religiously and I think it worked better than the cold medicines. I called the doctor and she said try the sudafed and Benedryl. Call your doctor to see what they recommend. As long as I didn't have a fever or severe congestion my surgery would move on and it did.

I swear getting sick before surgery is totally normal. Whether it has to do with stress or anything else is something maybe someone more experienced can answer. I was sick and had a cold sore and although it might vary from surgeon to surgeon, my surgeon and anesthesiologist were fine with it.
