I work in a building with 4 departments on 4 corners of the building. I know and walk through one department everyday on my way to the break room.
I've made friends with a few there, and there are two ladies there who have also had WLS. They've also been very supportive of me.
Recently, I've had 3 people who I don't know, come up to me and state "I've noticed you've really been losing weight recently, can I ask what you are doing?" And they are first shocked to hear how much I've lost (over 110 total) and secondly interested to hear how much we have to change our lifestyle.
In addition, those that know me have begun telling me that when they see me from afar, they don't recognize me.
For those early in the loss, if you are frustrated with losing 50 lbs and no one notices, fear not. It took 100 pounds before people were willing to come forward and comment. I suspect they noticed but were afraid to ask - and then I think you cross a point where they think 'ok, I've got to know'.
At any rate, I'm totally open about it and I've even talked to a few ladies interested in it. I don't push at all, I think that backfires. I don't recognize myself from afar either - it's interesting.
What I find really fascinating is that I feel the biggest change occurred in November, where I was suddenly a normal size and my family members were shocked to see me. But since then I've lost another 15 and that is where others seem to be suddenly noticing. It's kind of weird!
