I'm one-week post-op. I have lost a hairs-breadth under 14 lbs. I'm sure you all know that prior to this, that sort of loss would have been nearly impossible. I feel good. I'm still sore, still tired, and I take naps. I still use pain meds, but only as-needed. I cut back on the treadmill after pulling a muscle earlier this week but hope to add that back later this week. Today was my highest food intake day, including protein drinks, and when I totaled up the protein grams, I was barely 40. It's incredible. I thought I was consuming a huge amount of protein. It is kind of mind-blowing, the idea of consuming nearly twice as much protein. I added my vitamins to my diet today, and I was able to swallow them, so we'll see how that goes. So far so good!

the most important thing is still fluids - are you getting in enough of those? then worry about protein! luckily you can get both easily in many products, like Syntrax Nectars.
glad you are feeling so well!

Are you getting in enough fluids? It sounds like you are doing good.

I am doing great on fluids. I like to drink water/iced tea and I sipped constantly pre-surgery, so this isn't a big change for me. I easily get 50-60 fl oz/day.

Happy to hear you're doing so well. At one week out there was no way could have taken vitamins; it was well into the third week before my new stomach would tolerate any pills besides Prilosec and Gas-X!
I second MPM's Syntrax Nectars suggestion; they mix with water and are the least objectionable protein drinks (IMO).
I know you've seen it before, but sip, sip, sip, walk, and nap!
Again, congratulations on doing so well!

Glad to hear you are progressing well! I was still struggling at that time. Its funny how everyone's experiences are so different. Amy

Good for you on all the liquids. I really struggled with getting liquids in - water made me nauseous and the only thing that went down easily was coffee. And I was a huge tea drinker before surgery - after surgery I lost my taste for it. I'm just now getting to the point where I can drink tea again.
14 pounds is great for your first week.

Getting in the liquids and proteins seems to be 3/4 the battle. Awesome on the liquids

Great job! Esp. on the liquids. and it just gets easier from here on out.
(and there's no need for the treadmill this early. While admirable, wait another week or so. Just take walks around the house or outside. Muscle pulls are horrid!)

I walked 1/2 a mile on the treadmill today, cautiously, and no muscle ache, which was really nice.
