I'm making a serious effort to cut fat and refined carbs, but it still has to taste good. I was looking for a decent tasting butter substitute and tried Land O Lakes® Light Butter with Canola Oil. It's surprisingly good and it's spreadable. I put a half teaspoon in my oatmeal every morning and it's just enough to give me that taste and texture I want. 50 calories and 5 grams of fat per tablespoon.

This is great for cooking vegetables. Gives a smoked pork flavor without adding extra fat and calories.

I know that butter often gets a bad rap but I prefer using just a little real butter when needed- more as a condiment, or to enhance the flavor of something than the artificial substitutes. The Land-o-Lakes Light Butter lists the ingredients as :Ingredients: Butter (Cream, Salt), Water*, Buttermilk*, Contains Less Than 2% of Food Starch-Modified*, Tapioca Maltodextrin*, Salt, Distilled Monoglycerides*, Lactic Acid*, Potassium Sorbate* and Sodium Benzoate* (Preservatives), PGPR* (emulsifier), Natural Flavor*, Xanthan Gum*, Vitamin A Palmitate*, Beta Carotene* (color).
The Goya Ham Flavored concentrate also contains artificial ingredients but the big drawback here is the high salt content of the product. MSG is a flavor enhancer that I avoid if I can.
So I know I haven't answered your original question-about RNY friendly products- I would have to say that I consider butter-in small amounts and spices for flavor along with clean ways of cooking and preparing foods to be RNY friendly.

Pampered Chef Kitchen SpritzerRefillable little pump bottle that you can fill with the oil of your choice. It comes out like a light mist. If you normally buy cooking spray, this will pay for itself.

I use real butter, and olive oil and coconut oil. As for storing things - I started using glass containers and jars.
Stevia - as sweetener. I use liquid. Even for baking. And then there are my fav protein drinks - About Time Whey. All natural and not too sweet. I can make a double shake and drink that over time..
Lets not forget about my Thermos bottles. They are so great, SS and with one hand operation - fit in a coffee cup, and can hold up to 18 oz of liquid. Hot or cold. And they do not leak. Love them. Found in Target. I even take them with me when I travel. As long as it is empty when going through security - they have no problem with it.

I started using glass containers and jars. Me too, the glass is so much better for you, no chemicals to worry about and easier to clean. It's expensive to make the switch, but if you do it slowly, it's not too bad.

I could not live without my BPA free Blender Bottles. I drink out of the large 28 oz. bottles, and do shakes every morning in the smaller ones. I started out blending with a Ninja, but for straight shakes (nothing fancy/added) this is so much easier... And yes, I love the color options.

Dreamfield's pasta - it is low carb, but doesn't taste low carb. I love homemade spaghetti with turkey meatballs. I do real butter. Everything else is low fat (cheese, milk, yogurt). I can't stand margarine.

I've seen in at the whole foods store, but I worried it would taste weird.

I've seen in at the whole foods store, but I worried it would taste weird. I've used it a lot in the past, it's GREAT. The taste depends on the kind of coconut oil. I've seen some that were processed to have the coconut flavor removed, but there's also some advertised as "extra virgin" coconut oil that isn't treated after being extracted from the coconut and it sometimes has a faint coconut flavor (not sweet). I love the latter and I put it on toast, and I love it in indian and thai recipes. If I need a flavorless oil to cook with I just use peanut oil.

I especially like them because I can freeze a whole meal in one. I defrost overnight and it's ready to go into my lunch box the next day. I can freeze, microwave and eat right out of the same container.

RNY and also will be for my DS, turkey meatballs from Trader Joes; they are the perfect size and a quick, healthy meal, kept a couple of bags in the freezer at work. Can make many dishes with them. My favorite fast meal is 3 meatballs, some baby spinach, smart balance butter, nuke; top with parmesean.

www.amazon.com/dp/B001D6B0SG/ref=cm_sw_r_fa_asp_ElusC.1HCTXEYIt's not limited to an RNY product so much as an overall burst of flavor, for anyone. It's a new find [to me] courtesy of a good friend and Ive already got a second bottle as a 'pantry must have, back up'...it's so delicious!! Truffle Salt, just a small pinch packs so much power to anything I put it on. Cottage Cheese, Veggies - any type, Baked Potatoes, Salads, Pizza, Soups, Pasta, grits, breads, tuna or chicken salad, etc, etc. - absolutely ANYTHING! At first I wasn't sure what to expect from the blend and didn't want it to be heavy on the salt or the granulation. It's not. Its a perfect finer blend and packs a lot of flavor per pinch so you get a lot of bang for the buck when it comes to flavor. Love it, so does my husband, who's normally a 'salt and pepper' only kind of guy.

Oh, and one of my yummiest snacks now, is popcorn with the truffle-salt I posted earlier, sprinkled on it. My girlfriend told me about putting it on popcorn so she gets credit for that too.

I bought a tea infuser ball. I can brew loose teas to help me get in my fluids. I found some dried hibiscus flowers and they make a wonderful aromatic tea. Very inexpensive too!

Travel size spray bottles. I fill them with liquid air freshener. One stays in my desk and the other one travels in my purse.

Devrom helps minimize odors from gas. It's cheaper to buy it in bulk directly from their website. The directions say take 2 at a time, with a maximum of 8 daily. I usually chew 3 or 4 before I leave home and it lasts me until evening. www.devrom.com/ProductCart/pc/viewCat_h.asp?idCategory=3

These are great for when you're craving a crunchy snack. I even use them in place of croutons on my salads.
