I usually get a shot once a year from my surgeons office. I'm not due for a check up till December but my yearly shot is due this month. His office is 5 hrs away and I'm thinking of just adding D to my daily vitamin regimen. Can anyone suggest an amount. I'm 2 years out and have maintained acceptable levels in all areas. I take a multi, calcium citrate, A and K. I've always taken an Iron supplement. All vitamins are thru my Dr office. I was a patient of the late Dr Stewart and use his vitamins. I do have on hand some D3 -50.

This: www.amazon.com/BioTech-Pharmacal-D3-50-000-Count/dp/B000A0F2B2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1433783784&sr=8-1&keywords=biotech+vitamin+dTake one every day.

Hi Hayley,
I haven't been around much. IT could be that you can do the capsules. It sounds like you do have the "dry" Biotech D. The problem is tracking the change. I started out with 50k/day (one capsule) and didn't make any headway until I moved up to 100k a day. Is there a closer Doc that would be willing to order the correct vitamin D blood tests so you can make sure you aren't losing ground?
Pete
PS - I think I saw this because NYB brought it to the top of the list when she commented. Good deal. Never too late to add something.

I've managed to maintain a normal Vitamin D level with 150K daily of dry D3 (one pill three times a day). Find a local doc who can run a couple of blood tests for you (you don't need your surgeon for this).

Find a local doc who can run a couple of blood tests for you (you don't need your surgeon for this). I take 100K per day. You have to figure out what works for you. That's why I suggested starting with 50K. Do that for 3 months and then get bloodworm done. You need an internist locally. Also what is your PTH level? Serum calcium? Serum Vitamin D? When did you last have bloodworm?

I'll have to look at my last blood report. I went in December for blood work. Seems like I get about 20 different things checked. They draw 10 viles every time. I have paper work to get blood work this month but my Dr isn't requiring me to come in. I will just go locally for test then if something is off they will call me with instructions or a visit. I do have a local dr who does some blood work for me but I've always just used my surgeons office. Let me look at my last report and I'll post it here.

Just be sure to get a hard copy and track them yourself. Any value that is not at the high end of normal, increase your dosage incrementally and retest in three months. A list of the labs you need drawn are here: weightlosssurgery.proboards.com/thread/8800/lab-templateAll of the correct formulations can be found in our Vitamin shop, just click on the button under the banner at the top of the page or go here: weightlosssurgery.proboards.com/page/vitamins

Can you copy and paste this into a new post and include the ranges? Labs can vary in what they use as a range. Just posting your results does not provide us with enough information to make an accurate assessment.
Thanks!
