Congratulations on your surgiversary and your fabulous success! I really appreciate seeing your post.
Since I am just a bit behind you at 6 months out, I would love to know how you are doing with food and the DS regimen. Did you find your taste changed at all? How are your labs?
THANKS!

Well early on i was very careful about trying new foods and keeping my carb count below 50 grams a day every day. The things i would do differently though are trying different foods sooner and getting off the eggs for every meal plan a lot sooner. The biggest one for me though is i have spent TONS of money on specialty foods such as Gluten free and low to no carb foods and have generally regretted every one of the purchases. I am still trying to stick to the 50 grams of carbs a day but i do go over some days. For me gluten free isn't any better at avoiding gas and tastes like crap so if i am dying for a slice of pizza i have a REAL slice of pizza and i try to compensate the rest of the day with not eating carbs. I have had a slice of pizza probably 3 times and a quesadilla a few times and once you have it the cravings go away and i could go a long stretch without craving something like that again. What it comes down to for me now is everything in moderation. Before the surgery i know we all tried and failed at moderation but i find it much easier to stick to this rule now and just allow myself a treat every once in a while. SO that is my Rant about fake foods
As far as lifestyle it is Freaking Night and Day. I have so much more energy to play with my kids, my agility is coming back and i feel like i am 25 again. I can walk and walk and walk and i am not out of breath at all. right now i am just concentrating on tweaking my vitamins to get everything were it should be. I had my six month labs and my calcium was a little low so we upped my intake. I am religious about taking my vitamins and whenever i talk to anyone about this surgery i tell them if you are not willing to be completely dedicated to taking your vitamins every day and at the proper intervals then don't do this surgery.
So overall I love my DS and the new lifestyle it affords me. I was able to do some of the things on my presurgery bucket list such as take my daughter to the amusement park and go on the roller coasters with her, tie my shoes with out losing my breath and buy new clothes in the regular sections of regular stores.

Sounds like you are doing amazing! I think we are just a couple of weeks apart surgery date wise. Do you find you can eat a ton of food now? I can eat so much now that it kind of frightens me. Like I just ate 16 oz of cottage cheese in just a few minutes and don't feel like I overdid it in any way.
