I'll be 6 weeks post op tomorrow. I've been really diligent at not lifting pretty much anything, keeping in mind the 5 lb rule. I've had very bad soreness at the top of my incision site on the right side since day one and was told it will take time. I still have trouble at times standing completely straight cause I get pain in my incision. Wednesday I had a bad night of throwing up and bowel movements. Thursday I went to work and am so busy didn't have time to think about my body pain. I rested as much as I could taking care of a 5yr old alone and Saturday I woke up with so much pain and I'm starting to freak myself out. I don't know if I made a leak from how hard I was throwing up or if I pulled a muscle or if it's something else. I have bad pain on the too left side of my incision, about an inch over and maybe 3" down, then it skips to about my belly button into my groin. Like in a line. It hurts sitting and definitely hurts standing. Yesterday it hurt breathing. I wore my brace all day and night and it helped with the pain but I still have it today. I'm thinking I pulled muscle? But then I'm like could I have made a leak? I don't know what to look for or how to rule out one or the other. I don't have a fever and I'm still eating and drinking. It's just very painful and I'm not sure if I should make a big deal about it or not. Any thoughts / advice is appreciated Thanks!

Lisa,
So sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I was about 6/7 weeks when the pain started to subside. If you don't feel better in the morning, though, it certainly can't hurt to call and mention this pain to your doctor. Perhaps your body is saying slow down and everything is okay, but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Hang in there and keep us posted.
Kelly

Call the doc. Pain is telling you something is wrong. You lead a very busy life and by six weeks, most of us were feeling ok...not great but no pain. Now that's not counting people who had complications. So call the doc or go to the ER.

It might be worth giving Greenbaum a call about the pain. I am so sorry that you are going through this. Also the throwing up bothers me. Your experience is what I had with RNY. I would give him a call today. Remember his surgery days are Monday so you may have to wait or speak with Dr. Wasser or whoever is on call.

You need to have someone look at that. If Dr. Greenbaum won't see you immediately, go to an ER.

I went to my PCP today. The pain in my upper left quadrant has went away. I still have pain in the lower left quadrant but it seems to radiate through to my back where I have the pain as well. She gave me an rx for an MRI so I'm gonna go get that. I have a feeling however they moved/positioned me has set off something in my back where I already had surgery and I was having trouble with prior to the revision. I think they've made it worse and my regular pain meds don't even touch it. I'm hoping it's just a flare up and with rest, medication and maybe a little therapy it gets better but I won't know anything till I get the tests done.
Thank you as always for the help. I'll let ya know when I find out in the mean time I'm wearing my brace, cause it helps with the pain a little and resting as much as possible.
