Well in about 15 hours I will be a full year from my DS surgery. I will not lie in that this bastage sucked for the first 2-3 months but I wouldn't change a thing. Life is sooo much better now that I am further out and I can now eat almost as normally as I did pre DS.
I could not be happier as the main reason I had this surgery was to rid myself of Type II Diabetes that was spiraling out of control, and it worked like a charm (so far). My cholesterol was 100 on my last visit, A1C is very low, BP is usually around 100/65 and I take no meds for any comorbidities.
On top of all that, I have lost a freaking person. I now weigh less than the total amount of weight I have lost (weighing in at 178 and I have lost 183 lbs).
Thanks to everyone on this board for the great advice on living with the DS. The information has been invaluable and I am so thankful I was introduced to this board as it has helped me so much. I don't always agree with everything stated here, but I am sooo much better off for being here......thank you all.

Well this board was important and helpful to me early on but I have come to the conclusion that I am going to move on.
Take care.

Illinids,
Congratulations on your weight loss! You have really done a phenomenal job and helped many along the way. I'm so sorry to hear that you will be moving on as I have come to value your feedback and appreciated all you contributed. Please reconsider!!
Getting rid of the diabetes was also one of my main goals, to hear you are not on medicine for any of the comorbidities is amazing. Keep up the great work and I hope to continue seeing you on here!!
Take care and healthy living for always, Kelly

Well, Scott. I see you are on some kind of moderation or warning or something like that, with that big orange 50% sign under your name. I wish you the best of luck. I always appreciated your down to earth no-nonsense approach. We agreed on alot of things. We will all experience some weight regain at some point, but I have no doubt you have the knowledge and tools to address it in a manner you choose. The surgery has been good to you, and many of us, are better for the insight and guidance you have provided. Good luck and best wishes.

Good luck Scott. You've done great. I'm going to have to remember that milestone of losing more than you weigh - just the thought appeals to me and definitely a possibility for me in the future.

What Pete said! And also…I wish you would reconsider and stay. I’ve seen a few things on this forum that really bothers me, (that’s why I haven’t posted in a couple weeks), but, there’s a lot of great folks with a lot of knowledge sharing and kindness here too and I really did like having your opinion and another males perspective! As I said before, there are not enough men in any of these sites as they seem to be mostly female dominant. That being said, I wish you continued well-being and best wishes.
P.S…I know it’s not really any of my business…but, I am morbidly curious? What the heck is the 50% warning thing about??? What precipitates getting that?

Yes, there are some great people here but I am tired of the group think. The ridiculous, extreme carb restriction mentality is just silly and frankly bad advice. When one falls off that wagon the crash is hard. As I have said 100 times here, life is about balance and moderation. Extreme restriction of anything is not long term sustainable but according to the board owner and a few others...carbs are evil and bad. That being said a perfectly reasonable and sane article on eating carbs that I posted was ignored. Note this article said that carbs were a part of a balanced diet and one simply has to make good decisions with the carbs they choose..and it also said that too many carbs isn't good ...just like too much fat isn't good.

Thxs for the reply Scott. I'm just the new kid on the block and trying to absorb everything, and, again...I do hope you can stay!
