I have been thinking about her all day, and wouldn't you know, just as I started typing this, her husband sent a note that she is out of surgery and it went well! She had hernia repair, component separation (which I also highly recommend, skip the mesh!) and abdominoplasty, which includes removal of her panni. I'm sure more details will follow and Leonie will update her journey blog as soon as she is able. We have helped each other through this process these last weeks, as we both had to wage similar battles in getting the hernia repair/component separation/abdominoplasty done all at once. I'm so relieved for her that her insurance company was not only cooperative, but on board, that it was the semantics of figuring out how to code/charge it. Though hate the time/energy/grief it put her through, right until the day before - I know the feeling. I've been very fortunate to meet a lot of Dr. K patients in person, and meeting this beautiful lady with a spirit that literally glows is a life highlight. The beauty that comes through in her words is magnified that much more in person. This is when we met for the first time, had breakfast at this great cafe near motel where many traveling patients stay. Many memories of her trip here to California, she made the most of it and then some YAY for her surgery success and looking forward to hearing more.

What wonderful news, now hoping for a smooth, quick recovery. She sounds like a great lady/friend with an outstanding personality!! Keep your spirits up and the pain low, Leonie!

It's funny when I have imagined Leonie in my mind(since pics are so small on my phone), I envisioned a much older person, mostly because she writes like a very wise and thoughtful woman(which usually comes with age). But with this large picture of the two of you, I see she looks very young!! And you can see her kind spirit shine through in her smile. Very happy to hear her surgery went well and thank you for posting the pictrue Sharyl. You both looked great.

You are all so super sweet! In this vulnerable time this board, and especially Sharyl have been my lifeline. It is so good not to be alone.
I am recovering well, will probably be discharged tomorrow morning.
Love you all
