I also love cream cheese rolls for breakfast - take a nice thick slice of ham or bologna, spread cream cheese on it, and roll it up. If you want you can put olives and/or pimento in the middle.
Breakfast number two for me: Cucumbers with feta, olive oil, sea salt, fresh herbs from the garden

Trial and error is just the way things work early on. Our bodies can have such amazing differences. Good for you for working on a solution. Except for your iron I think you are better off to take your vitamins with something in your stomach and you may find a couple of crackers with the iron will help keep your stomach settled if you do start getting heartburn or an upset stomach from the iron. Sometimes it just seems to start. I was never a big breakfast person so now I just start with a protein shake. A slice of bread is fine too but try and find some type of protein to add to that. Peanut butter maybe (I hate peanut butter ) I usually have a beef stick or some kind of little piece of meat with or right after my shake.

Zantac - I will try that. I am only stopping the vitamins then trying each one to see what is giving me heartburn from the mid day vitamins. I have it every day and that is without eating food. I also want to restrict caffeine intake and I am an ice tea junkie. So today I am only drinking water and other non caffeine drinks. I will be back on my vitamins shortly. There is no way I want to be deficit in my blood work. And what do you intend to do if it is a vitamin causing your heartburn? You can't stop taking that vitamin. Best to resolve this while you are taking all your vitamins. You should never have an empty stomach. Eat, eat, eat all day long.

Iron tablets caused uncomfortable heartburn for me. Apart from the fact that I hated the orang e colour of the tender iron, I have never absorbed iron well. So now I have infusions.
Right now I have heartburn threatening at 8am' but I am hungry and really need to eat something the moment I get up. But I love snuggling in bed with hubby more.

Ok after going through trial and error - I do not think the vitamins are the issue. I really think it is my caffeine abuse. I love ice tea and Snapple Diet Peach is my favorite. I can drink bottle after bottle. But since Friday, I have only limit myself to once a day and essentially I have been heartburn free.
I need to slow down the way that I take my pills because that could have contributed to heartburn. In the morning 5 tender iron is killing me (it is just too much). I need to find an alternative iron and there are some out there that are less likely to cause constipation.
So I am back on the vitamins. As far as breakfast goes - I made cream cheese pancakes yesterday with some bacon. I have plenty leftovers. It was Ok. I can certainly eat leftovers. Right now I need to go grocery shopping and hopefully that will be sometime this morning. I want to put a container in my fridge with some quick protein sources (cheese, deli meat). I made ground chicken sloppy joes that I enjoyed was also enjoyed by my husband and he finished all of it. I need to make sure I have stuff in the fridge. I will go shopping this morning and do some cooking. I got a few low carb recipes of pininterest that I want to try.
I have eaten so much Greek yogurt when I first came home from surgery that I have sworn it off. I do not want to even see Yogurt.

You could be right. But I think I had some things contributing to the heartburn. If I avoid those things and take the Omeprazole - then I should be OK with the heartburn.

Yes - that was my experience early on. Hope you continue to feel better.

I had a horrible time eating much of anything for a good 2 months because oh GERD, but if you keep to a strict diet early on of things that won't flare the GERD and take your Omeprazole (do not stop even if you feel better) you should be good. Believe me, you will be able to eat the tomatoes, spicy food and bread later on but for now treat your stomach like you would a baby....that is what the vets told me and it was true. Glad you are feeling better and adusting. As they say just remember this is a marathon, not a sprint.

On the vitamin front, I had to eat a almond cracker or something with every dose of vitamins to keep nausea and heartburn away. I even had to go down to one multi a day until I got used to them. i was not a vitamin taker before surgery. Now, no problems with handfuls of pills. I did take rantidine 2x daily for a while, and still grab a dose every once in a while.

When I was pregnant, my pre-natal ones would make me vomit unless I had a cracker. I was also a timid pill taker before surgery. I was a one pill at a time, gulping water and scared of choking pill taker. I actually was worried about that when I chose my surgery. Pfttt...I got over that pretty quickly. I can take handfuls at a time now, no problem

Stop with the low fat meat substitutes. Real ground beef sloppy Joes, for instance. Ground beef burgers, not turkey burgers. Iron constipates most people. Take a dose of Magnesium Oxide with your iron. That should loosen things up a bit for you. You can always take a second dose later on if it is not enough. Definitely take your iron with food in your stomach. I take mine at lunch. I can't believe that your surgeon gave you all those nonsensical food restrictions, but never mentioned to stay away from caffeine for a couple of months. Sheesh.
