Hi and welcome! You're in a great place for support. Can you tell us a little more about yourself and history. And tell us 'stats' like age, weight, height, maybe add a signature line (if you need help let us know!) It helps us to know you better and ensure you get the right responses for your particular needs. What questions do you have? There's a lot of great information here, a lot of new recent post-ops, as well as people who have been living with the DS from 3-14 years. Here's a sticky thread that can help give you perspective on what to expect from surgery and how to plan (ignore the notice that appears about the thread being 90 days old, sticky posts are mostly resource threads for reading) weightlosssurgery.proboards.com/thread/8801/surgery-expect-planI think one of the most important things to understand about surgery is perspective, that this a life-saving tool that works if we also do our work; it's not about rapid loss, but losing and sustaining that loss for a lifetime of health. That's the beauty of the metabolic reset of the DS, and that we can eat a lot of really good food, it's an eating style (very similar to Atkins) that is truly satisfying. So again, welcome and ask away! Sharyl

Welcome and congrats on your date!
Aside from telling us about you, can you tell us more about your surgeon? what hospital, qualifications, who he learned the DS from?
We are kinda picky when it comes to surgeons, but the most important part is that YOU trust him. There are many we know, and finding out there are many we don't. My surgeon was a relative unknown to this community, but now we have about 7 members here that have used my surgeon. all with excellent outcomes.
There are also some DS surgeons that really aren't. and will do everything including not giving you a DS while your on the table because of various reasons (Bait and NOT switch, we call it)..
Is there anyone else on here that used Dr. Matthew Metz from Parker, CO?
