I have a weird stomach and IBS. Any other suggestions for protein supplements? Here's what I've tried that make me uncomfortable:
1) Pro-ti diet shakes 2) Medi-fast shakes 3) Unjury shakes and unflavored protein 4) Muscle Milk and MM Light shakes 5) Various GNC and grocery store brands
I am lactose intolerant and also have issues with soy and fake sugar...so you see my problem.
Yesterday, I ate:
2 sausage links with cheese and a scrambled egg a slice of deli ham with 1 slice cheese and mustard a teaspoon of cream cheese with salsa 1/2 tsp of peanut butter
I estimate that's about 30 grams of protein... I'm three weeks out... on soft foods (no bacon yet!!)
I need protein supplements that don't give me gas, nausea, cramps, etc... Help! Thanks!!! Lori

Lori ,
Have you tried Isopure yet? I'm not sure if it has what you need but I didn't see it on your list above.

I got mine at GNC. It's expensive but you get a huge bottle.
Hope it works!

Lori I also have ulcerative colitis and my gas and bathroom issues settled down about six weeks out after i cut out all protien shakes and shots. I am three months out now and am getting over 100grams of protien from food alone.

Maybe tuna fish with tons of mayo, deviled eggs, cashews chewed really well? I was also able to eat jerky at 2 weeks out if it was soft steak strip style like the Costco kirkland brand, chewed up beyond recognition with sips of water. Does yogurt give you issues? My husband is lactose intolerant but can eat greek yogurt with zero consequences. Good luck Lori!

salmon, tuna, canned ham salads with lits of full fat mayo
cottage cheese
ricotta cheese (mix with sugar free pudding mix as a desert)
egg drop soup
egg salad
I couldn't tolerate protein shakes so concentrated on food sources

What about Jay Robb protein powder? It is egg white based protein. 24g Protein/4g carb per serving

I second the Jay Robb egg white protein powder. They make an unflavored one, that is what I use. I cannot tolerate whey or any artificial sweeteners, and this is the only one that works for me. I usually order it online at propelnutrition.com because they have free shipping.

NOW also makes an unflavored egg protein powder which is a bit cheaper than the Jay Robb, though it has an initial smell to it - once you make your shake, it tastes the same as the Jay Robb. I have also ordered powdered egg whites through Amazon, Honeyville Farms egg white powder. It is the cheapest solution. For sweetener, I use Sweetleaf flavored Sweetdrops, which are Stevia extracts without any sugar alcohols, and then use almond milk and heavy cream to make my shakes.

Lori Um, thats not 30G, just to let you know... 2 sausage links - 4g 1 slice of cheese - 3g 1 egg - 6g 1 slice of deli ham - Maybe 2g. (pre-pakaged deli style Ham is usually ~8g per oz. that is 4-5 sliices of most brands).. 1-slice cheese - 3g, Cream cheese and salsa, 1g, (but alot of fat.) 1/2 tsp peanut butter - 2g (peanut butter is 7g per 2 tsp) ( Jiff regular) That is only 21g. Keep trying. You'll get there. Use My Fitness Pal to track your protein. You can enter things like 1 slice of deli ham, I even got a scale at the beginning and weighed my food until i was confident that I knew how much of something i was eating by the portion size. Use it daily, use it after every meal, just use it..
