Scott you need more carbs. I am eating probably 150 a day if not more. Today so far I had 35 at lunch, another 5 with cream/half and half with coffee, and another 30 with protein bars. So 70 and I haven't had afternoon or evening snacks, or dinner. Believe me I don't carb restrict, although I don't stop at the doughnut or bagel shop in the morning either (at least not yet)

Scott you need more carbs. well, besides the fact that he's had nearly NO effects from carbs, I would love to see him suffer just a bit.... j/k Seriously though, Scott is tall, and of the MALE persuasion. I say he's doing just fine, only 6.5 months out, and 150 lost... that is bit on the heavy side (no pun intended) of the scale for safe weight loss even with WLS, but not off the deep end either.. Edit to add my example. Me at 6 months - down 120lbs - I'm only 5-8, Scott is ~ 6' 1" In fact, according to MFP, I was 176.4 on April 12. (an exact year ago.) which means I had lost 135 @ 7 months and a week.. 6'2 dammit! (=: And lol I found out beeer hurts, or at least makes me feel like I am going to shit myself. Happy Now? (=:

I do not think that that low a level of carbs consumption, for that long, is a good idea. NYB, What did I say that makes you think I am eating a low level of carbs?

I posted this above, but you guys are fast on the draw today.. posting what i edited on page 2.. wednesday's counts. via MFP Calories Carbs Fat ProteinSugar Fibe Totals 3,356 288 170 177 76 16 (MFP apparently subtracts 60% of the fiber from the calorie total. actual cal count is 3390.) Your Daily Goal 2,240 168 112 140 45 26 Remaining -1,116 -120 -58 -37 -31 10 Calories Carbs Fat Protein Sugar Fiber ok, so 3390 cals (I know, doesn't really matter, but....) 288 carbs = 1152 * 60% = 691 177 protein = 708 * 50% = 354 170 fat = 1530 * 20% = 306 691 + 354 + 306 = 1351 cals.. No wonder I can't gain any weight, Not enough cals to overcome expendature. I know that I'm doing enough physical exercise to burn 1351 cal.. Ok , there is SO much irony in putting that in writing. used to be that that amount of food would make me sustain my high weight of 310lbs.. Almost makes me teary eyed...

I'm reposting this to share a little perspective, about food counts and post-op process; and it IS a process. It's shocking to realize that we are now, very often not eating enough. And, it does matter where the food comes from, we never paid attention before, the surgery forces us to, but over time, becomes routine/second nature, but not until you are really done with the maximum weight loss window that's usually 12-18 months, and start really living in maintenance. And even then, it will continue to change, usually the farther out we are, the more things 'loosen' up, the more we can eat. This is exactly why I also read as many post op stories/experiences too from people 2, 3, 5 years up and more and think we're very lucky to have a good amount of long-time surgery peeps in this forum.

Well that was before dinner where I had half an order of Chilli cheese fries and 3 slices of pizza where I had 2 full pieces of crust....I also had protein granola with heavy cream for a snack. I don't Eat too few carbs although yesterday to the point where I posted it was a light carb day for me.

You're still at a normal weight at a 22 BMI. You won't be considered underweight until you get down to lower than 18.5. If you are concerned now, whatever you do, don't increase your sugar/flour carbs. I have seen that backfire on people all the time. Try some Creon. I would also increase protein and do some weight training to build muscle mass.

Scott - more veggies and some fruit please. You're over 6 months out and your rate of loss is fast….your diet needs a little more balance.

Scott - more veggies and some fruit please. You're over 6 months out and your rate of loss is fast….your diet needs a little more balance. I do eat a fair amount of vegetables. I have broccoli and green beans several times a week, and today I had a burrito bowl from Qdoba for lunch and had probably a half cup of black beans. Tonight I had some cole slaw and 60% of a medium sized sweet potato with my prime rib dinner. Corn and tomatoes neither one sits very well for me now. I will do as you have all said and try them again in a month or so, but for now I can't do them. Fruit, well guilty as charged there. I have just never been a big fruit eater. Citrus is too acidic for me, so I have a banana every now and dried cranberries from the salad bar at work a couple times a week that mix it in with my tuna (couple table spoons). Other than that I am not getting much fruit, but since I am tolerating more foods I will make an effort to get more fruit in my diet. The other food group for which I have added a significant amount of over the past month is grains (granola, a piece of oat nut toast on occasion and rice). As far as my rate of loss goes, it has slowed. I was losing roughly 11 pounds per week on average the first 3 months and the last 3 months that average loss per week for that period was a little over 5.5 lbs. The average loss per week over the last 5 weeks has been 3 pounds. So I do seem to be slowing. Hopefully more significantly soon, but this week is going to be a pretty significant loss as yesterday I was down 5 pounds...so unless I gained some back today it is going to be a least a 5 pound lost.

Add fruit, whole grains, more vegetables that aren't starch (beans and sweet potatoes don't really count as vegetables)…
try zucchini, carrots, cauliflower, peas, asparagus…you get the picture.
You're only 17 lbs to goal….you need to slow the loss down….try to eat a more balanced diet, with more complex carbs, vegetables, and some fruit.

The day's eating you posted - the only vegetable was "a couple pieces of broccoli" and no fruit. You missed the 16 oz bowl of broccoli soup. There was a lot of broccoli in that soup....I ladled it out myself and as always made sure I got a lot of the broccoli. I am eating more normally everyday so I am getting back to more of the side dishes and not just the meat. My diet is becoming much more balanced every day, but there are days when I am going to get more protein than veggies. Regarding the carbs I eat the majority are complex. Mainly nuts & vegetables with some grains mixed in. The 1.5 biscuits I had the other day is the most garbage carbs I have eaten in a long time. BTW, you can classify black beans or sweet potatoes anyway you desire, but regardless, they are excellent sources of complex carbohydrates.....much better than say corn.
