Who has had their sleeve revised, or common channel or both in order to get MORE loss?
I know there has been some talk of this here and there but has anyone actually gone through with the surgery? what have been your results?
I want to look into this, but i know i am unlikely to go through with it b/c my side effects are limited and i dont want to "push my luck" so to speak with another surgery. I am conflicted.
Anyone have any experiences?

Hi, Tlady here just had her DS revised, her common channel was shortened and she was resleeved. She doesn't post as frequently because she's in the process of a huge out of state move with her family, but I can reach out to her. I know some others have been re-sleeved and/or had the 'second half' converting the sleeve to the DS and hopefully they'll check in here.

Pandykorn,
I am in the same position. If you find out any information, I'd appreciate your sharing it (pm) or posting it. I'm assuming that my cc needs to be shortened, but am not 100% sure. Maybe the sleeve needs to be redone. I can't claim expertise in this, but know that 3+ years out, I'm only half way to goal and I'm beyond frustrated.

Hi, I know there are a few out there, most recently TLady, but she's not posting much as her family is transitioning into a giant job/career/out of state move. I'm reaching out to her and will bump this for you to keep it up and out there. I've heard more about re-sleeving than common channel shortening, but I know in particular, she had both, we have the same surgeon. I am not familiar personally with this, but just wanted to say as someone who revised from an RNY to a DS, I really empathize when you know something might not be working 'quite right' and needs changing. The DS is a superior surgery to the RNY; and also not a one size fits all surgery and sometimes adjustments might be needed. Will be keeping eye/ears open for you,

I had a resleeve and it worked great - really well until I got collagenous colitis...I had to take steroids for a long time and I ate, yes I ate and many times things I shouldn't have. Nothing was done to my common channel length. I was beyond frustrated too that's why I had it done.
Recently, I had a cat scan and my tummy is still smaller than normal.
I didn't have any problems and everything went fine. What are your questions? I'll be happy to answer.

Hello All.
Yes, I just went through a re-sleeve w/ hiatal hernia repair and a revision of my common channel length. I have absolutely no regrets and I am so grateful that I was able to see Dr. Keshishian in California. I didn't have a proper DS (FOR MY ANATOMY), from the start. Dr. K found that I had a very long small bowel length and my 100 CC length was too long for me. He also suspects that it wasn't measured in a way that he would've preferred, done by my original DS surgeon. I don't have much weight to lose, so I am slowly inching lower, but it feels good to not be gaining, as I had been for over a year. I'm down close to 18 pounds in 2 months. I am now at around the lowest weight I've ever been in my adult life, even during my 1st DS.

Sounds like things went smoothly with your recovery...glad to hear it. And Dr. K....well yes I am admittedly partial but I'm happy you had him give you your 'tune up' & I'm excited to hear of your ongoing progress and results.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like you're really pleased with everything. How has your recovery been compared to your original surgery? Is it easier/same/harder?
I hope it is everything you want it to be!

Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like you're really pleased with everything. How has your recovery been compared to your original surgery? Is it easier/same/harder? I hope it is everything you want it to be! - Lisa The recovery has been similar, but I also bounce back really fast from surgery historically. I was back to work after my first DS within about 10 days. I was mostly just tired. I didn't go back to work as fast this time, as I have 2 toddlers and stayed home resting while my husband or firends took them to daycare. I took advantage in that regard! My sleeve was swollen for less time, this time around. I progressed quickly as Dr. K guided me and I can eat all foods just fine. After I eat them is another story, but I seem to be more sensitive to dairy, fat, and carbs. I'm just playing around with what works with my new common channel and can certainly tell that altering the cc length has made a huge difference in weight loss and just being more gas sensitive in general. I was chronically constipated before. I now go 2-4 a day and have upped my calcium to firm things up. I'm sure this will be trial and error, but I know I was in the best hands possible for my situation (with Dr. K, that is). I feel like I have a properly working DS now and am armed accordingly to battle this constant struggle with my weight. I really, truly feel like a poster child for the Hess Method of the DS! A cookie cutter DS DID NOT WORK FOR ME!! It took 5 years for me to figure it our and admit that it wasn't my fault. Good luck!

So good to hear from you! And thanks for sharing when you have so much going on and your hands more than full! I'm thrilled you are doing so well. I know you have some physical adjustments going on, but your weight loss is progressing nicely and yes, it's an amazing feeling to know that at last, there is a real tool that will help keep it control. I learned a lot via your revision experience, it has helped in advising pre-ops about the types of questions they should ask their surgeons. Say hi to your sisters for me! Hello All.
