First day went great. The time flew. I took cottage cheese, etc, with me and got food in. I drank lots of water too. As I went from my office to the conference room and back my assistant kept following me around with my bottle of water. . When she found me in the refrigerator hugging a can of diet Pepsi she laughed and said "no, no, no!". ( I wasn't going to drink it... I was just being silly me)

That's funny. You might actually find when you try one again you won't like it. I gave them up 4 1/2 months before my surgery & I couldn't really stand them the month before & I still don't like them. Stupid me...I'll try a sip or so every few months HOPING I'll like them again, but I don't. On the plus side, my face sure did clear up.

I love the image of you hugging the can of diet pepsi, fabulous photo concept Glad your first day went so well. Cottage cheese was a great go to for me too, I always loved it and it agreed with me really well, I'm less a yogurt person though trying to eat greek yogurt a little more for the probiotic affect. I keep a container at work and will use it for my afternoon snack, I'll add a scoop of chocolate protein and a little hazelnut non-dairy creamer and it's yummy and like having a pudding treat.

3 weeks and 3 days out. Food in the evening has been really difficult. Feel sick every time I eat. I'm eating 1/4 cup or less...I think I may be eating too fast. I have baby spoons and am measuring my food to make sure my eyes aren't bigger than my stomach. . I think I may be so excited about eating something that I'm eating too fast. Changing 42 years of eating habits is tough... But doable.... Eventually:). I find myself planning for activities I would have never planned... Water park with son, for example. That is way cool for me. Feel myself getting edgy this week, at work and home. Those darn hormones everyone talks about are kicking in.... I am flying in about a month and I really think I will not need an extender. That is a great thought for me too. I'm sleeping fairly well now. I do notice I feel colder... I keep complaining and my husband tells me the house is fairly warm. Another adjustment. That is about all, eating is tough but it will work itself out. All else seems good so far.

I have baby spoons and am measuring my food to make sure my eyes aren't bigger than my stomach. . I think I may be so excited about eating something that I'm eating too fast. I may be too early out at only one week to address this but the habit I've been working on is the talking while eating. Usually I'd take a bite, listening to my dining companion family, whatever, and not really think about the food in my mouth. I've been really trying to focus on the food now. Taking a tiny bite...chewing it to death...thinking about its texture, how many of those bites do I have left, do I think? Then when the second bite comes, I'm putting the spoon down...concentrating on the people with me (or hubby as it happens this week). So yeah, you probably need to savor each bite and stop being in a rush to get through what little we can eat! But Ohhhhhhhhhh how I am with ya on dying for a diet coke! I'm wondering if I get some soda stream cola flavouring and get experimental...

Wow, you are really getting into the groove!
I admit that I would have opened that diet Pepsi and swirled a sip in my mouth until all the bubbles were gone. Then I would have swallowed. The can would have stood on my desk, And I would have tiny sips inbetween water. After an hour or two it would be flat and I would throw it away. I never denied myself anything. I would just have the tiniest taste. At three weeks out I sipped a teaspoonful of champagne and had a sliver of cake. I was not missing out!
I still have a hard time eating in the evening. It is as though my stomach says it wants to rest. In the morning it is a totally different matter! Keep that nice cooked food for breakfast if it sits better. Lately I have mostly vegetables and salad for dinner. By then I have had more than enough protein. I must add, I am starving between 4:30 and 5pm. I eat when I am hungry.

You go back to work in two weeks and now traveling on a plane in a month, holy crap. I missed diet coke too, hey, if you're seriously jonesing? Try it fountain style on a ton of ice and see how you do, sip small. I couldn't drink it for awhile, carbonation of any kind hurt. But I tried it at one of my first outings, a birthday party in a mexican restaurant just a little less than 2 months out, and that's how I drank it, and very slowly, and it went down ok. As long as you are getting in all your 'good fluid'. My appetite decreases by the end of the day and I seem to lose interest in food which in of itself is a small miracle. Mornings remain by best eating time. You're on target I think with the need to ease into foods, go slow, my stomach told me instantly if I ate too much too fast. My hormones raged, I cried for two weeks after my revision. Taterweight, good note what you've mentioned about talking/eating at the same time. It's the start of actually noticing a lot about food we never knew about for - the textures, density, learning what full actually is.

One month today. At this time last month I was in pre-op, getting ready and nervous. One month has been generally good, with a few bumps here and there. Sitting here, I've lost 30 to 40 lbs. ( not sure exactly - not weighing self daily). I feel better and during the day have more energy. At night I go to bed early and my body needs it's rest. As I've said before, I I have normal people feet. My stomach is slowly losing that, no I'm not pregnant but just look it appearance. . My skin is drier but I'm working on it. More than anything, my lips have been really chapped. La Mer makes a lip balm that I just bought on Saturday. It is a little salty ($50), but is way better than anything OTC that I've come across and after three uses there is a noticeable difference for me. Emotionally, I am less tolerant. Not with my son - I have unending tolerance for him- but for the rest of my family and friends. Maybe it's hormones, maybe it's because I can't use food as a crutch. Who knows. It's not a bad change... Just different. I did have a root beer. It was good and went down well. But, it took me a day to drink it. It's not an everyday thing, but was a deviation. Water and sf Popsicles are my main sources of hydration. Did go to Gino's for pizza Saturday night. Deep dish Chicago style sausage patty. The entire layer is a thin souls layer of sausage. I ate the top of 1/4 piece, went home and had more of top for next meal. Yummy. I need to start exercising. I have lots of excuses why not, but it is really so cold here I don't want to think about one more place to drive and go into. Of course, the fact that I have a mini-gym downstairs does not sway me. I always have a hard time getting into exercise but then I like it. It's just getting started... Doing my vitamins, except calcium. Those horse pills, petite or otherwise, just don't go down well. Will try again this week. Working on increasing protein. Have it several times a day, but getting in the whole daily goal us tough. I'm probably hitting the 30 for 30 days though. My clothes are getting a little loose, but are still wearable. Maybe in a month or two I will some smaller clothes.

Tomorrow will be 2 months since my surgery. I have been working with a personal trainer, which I hate - but hope I will grow to like it better over time. My weight loss is right around 51 pounds - I say right around because my scale is a few pounds lighter than my doctor's scale. I got tired of weighing on my scale and doing the math, so I just use what my scale says,
I have always been an early to bed person. I need that rest even more now! Eating is going okay. I find myself getting all excited about something I'm going to eat and then I can just have a few bites. That is definitely an adjustment. Trying hard to get my liquids in daily. That is a struggle for me. Vitamins are going okay, although I still struggle with the calcium citrate.
I'm going on a cruise with my family week after next. There will be plenty of food choices so I should not have any problems. I am very excited to wear a normal seatbelt!!!!
My clothes are finally starting to get big. My clients are now starting to notice that I have lost weight, which is cool. I have found numerous ways to answer the "how" ? and still not have to tell my whole story...that is just my preference.
Really, my story is nothing great and exciting. I seem to be a stair stepper in terms of weight loss (ugh!) and need my sleep. My life is greatly improved because of the DS. I hurt less, move around more, and am excited to be needing some different sizes in terms of clothes. I'm also looking forward to some nice weather as spring rolls out so I can venture outside more.

I think your story is wonderful, and truly great and exciting! You should be leaving for your cruise next week, I love that you're excited to wear a normal seatbelt. I'll never forget the first time I fit in one and wasn't scared to sit in the middle seat on the airplane. Would love to hear about your trip, how you do, and maybe, see pics?

I have not posted anything in"my story" for awhile. I'm about 4 1/2 months out and down 82 pounds as of last week. I am doing well by all accounts. Exercising has been going well...I definitely feel better when I do it. I can say that for awhile people noticed I had lost some weight... But now it is really noticeable. I'm wearing regular size shirts and sometimes for pants too. I have a long way to go yet... But I'm working on it. I was doing personal training for awhile and then fell off the schedule. I'm adding that back three days a week and at some point four days. I want to use the nice weather and longer days to really concentrate on my fitness.
Food is going well. I hate breakfast food most days but I use shakes a lot. I make a really good shake with 30 grams protein that has about 3 g. Carbs. Tastes pretty good too.
Blood work came back pretty good. Liver enzymes were 2 points higher than recommended max. but the doctor said that this s not uncommon with rapid weight loss. We will watch it...
Biggest struggle is water. Not because I'm drinking something else, but just drinking period. I keep working on it. Water has always been a challenge for me.
Have noticed that men smile and hold doors for me again. I'm not offended, it is nice. My husband treats me the same, but he never gave me a hard time about my weight. He is very complimentary, so that is good. I know the surgery sometimes affects your primary relationships for the bad, but so far so good.
I'm not a shy person by nature but now I am more comfortable in social settings. I no longer worry about chairs with sides, no seatbelt issues, etc. I recently started riding my bike. It had been years since I got on it...
I am grateful for how far I have come and anxious to lose more weight and look and feel even better. I tend to stair step, which is a little frustrating, but my that is my body's way of doing the hard work it has done and has to continue to do.
I know this post is not terribly exciting or jaw- dropping. Thankfully, I am a boring DS thus far. I know my day of DS challenges or issues will come. - so I am enjoying the ride right now.

This is a great update! And, exactly what My Story is about! There's nothing BORING about what you posted, quite the contrary, you're talking about so many things that reflect this weight loss process and journey that happen off the scale too, what you shared here is the substance of our lives!: It's very typical for people to update in monthly increments, and I hope to see more people doing it. I did this both times, my RNY and my revision, and it's been invaluable to have; now we call it blogging So My Story, one thread is a great way to put all the updates in one place. You're facing your challenges realistically and with a good attitude, like using shakes when you're not a breakfast person, knowing water is a challenge for you; and good, yes, keep a close watch on those liver enzymes. Thank you for a great update. And Meq815/Maryellen, NOTHING about your story, journey either!
