First off, I want to give Lulu a GREAT BIG HUG and to say a huge THANK YOU for keeping everyone updated here for me. I appreciate it!!!
We are currently in the hotel here in California. (Don't really wanna go home to the Alaska weather- it was a whopping 20 BELOW today ~~ and as goofy "WE Alaskan's" are my hubby & son went to the store & picked up ice cream!!!!!! Really??!! Alaskan's are warped!!!!!
So, the plan is to have my post-op appointment Thursday morning with Dr. K. And to fly back to Alaska Friday nite/Saturday morning. (edited: I have the wheelchair assit for the flights requested)
I am sore & cannot get comfortable here in the hotel on the flat bed. I will ask tomorrow if they have a recliner. I am getting my fluids in. That is my new job. That will help me heal.
So, once I get home, I will settle back into a routine & post aboutt my surgery.
I was truely sad to see that Yheuda passed away. That blows my mind. My heart goes out to his family. What happened??

I'm glad you seem to be progressing well after your revision! (Wish I could smite your bed discomfort, though.) We may never know what Yehuda's cause of death was.

Congratz on getting set free from the hospital. May your recovery continue to go well. I know a bit about your crazy Alaska like ways, being from Minnesota and all I have done my share of buying ice cream when its below zero and grilling with 2 feet of snow on the ground. lol

Glad you are out of the hospital and doing well. Hopefully they can accomodate the recliner request. I know that feeling of knowing a recliner is what I need. I am having a TT in 20 days and I am determined to buy a recliner before that.

Jamie, I'm so glad all is going well. You have been in my thoughts. I remember trying to sip...what an effort. Take care on your trip home and be sure to get wheelchair assistance. You get through security much easier.

Hi Jamie! Glad you're doing well. Your back will hurt for a bit, but that will subside as you're able to move around more in bed. Drink those fluids, move as much as you can, and keep us posted. I don't think we'll ever know what happened with Yehuda. His family is ultra-orthodox, and the refuse autopsies unless required by law. I feel so bad for him and his family, and I know he was an inspiration to us revisionistas. You just hurry with the healing and be well.

GRATS! I am glad you are doing so well, as for the bed discomfort, try propping several pillows up for a slight incline. I did that in my 2 week stay in the motel it helps a lot. (I totally understand 20 below weather and getting ice cream , granted Montana doesn't have quite the extreme weather Alaska has but I have been guilty of such things. Like scrapping of my windshield and braving the new snow for some DQ... lol)

Congratulations! Are you on pain meds? At least that might bring you to a place where you can sleep in that hotel bed--and get more and more pillows! I'm so happy to see you posting so soon after your surgery!

I stayed in Pasadena after my surgery and the bed was awful! I found some relief by stuffing pillows on either side of me and under my knees. I also had a script for Dilauded which helped me sleep.
I too had the wheelchair assist at the airports (I had a connection through Cleveland. I don't recommend multiple plane rides after this surgery...) It really helped.
I live in SW Florida because I hate the cold and this morning I woke up to 35 degrees. I was miserable. Yes, I know I won't be getting any sympathy from you but I was really depressed when I turned the windshield wipers on and it made snow on my windshield. The damned dew on the windows froze! I hate winter, even in Florida. How do you tolerate Alaska?

Hi Jamie, I'm Sharyl, new to this site, but not new to the WLS community. Congrats on your surgery, I too was just revised from an RNY to a DS by Dr. K, two weeks before you! I'm just now able to lie down flat in my bed, and I can't for long, and that took 3 weeks, so hang in there. Hopefully you'll get a recliner. In the meantime, definitely get extra pillows, and something else that helps sitting/sleeping up (I spent my recovery at home on the couch) is one of those pillows that has the little arm rests. They were big in the 70s when I was a kid :-) and they're still around, you can get one at any Kmart/Target type store. Wish you all the best!

Congratulations! I slept in my recliner for a while post-op and when I transitioned to bed, I slept with extra pillows under my head and knees.
