Yeah ! Today ! ;D Hovering over Onederland, ready to land for days. It's a sweet ride, now for the rest of the journey. Four months out today. I watch the DS'ers with awe and mystery and marvel at your speed with weight loss and renewed health. I was tempted to wonder if I made the right choice and Dr. K assured me, last Wednesday, that I was just a tad bit ahead of where I should be. What a relief. I can hear it a million times, but it is hard not to compare just a little. He also said we should only be weighing quarterly and I about had a heart attack ... I am just not that well yet Something about me stiil wants to trust a device, rather than listen to my body and trust it. This path is long for a stubborn girl like me. I will get there. I will be well, I will, I will ... with in parameters.

Thanks for your congrats and encouragement. The VSG is a different process but I am so glad it's not, a one size fits all. Everyone has such different needs and health issues. I just hope to stay the course until a new lifestyle firms up inside of me. One worry that I may be facing is my mother. I take her next week to have Veracyte gene expression testing for possible throat cancer down in Beverly Hills. When we are together, eating is a real strain for various reasons. She is a very negative person and bossy to be sure. I have begun a routine that's clearly working. When I have to travel AND help her everything gets shifted, plus the emotional exhaustion. I am to new at this to try to be flexible for days in a row. It would be my dumb luck that she is really sick and needs help. We will have to hire help, as I am not willing to put her health in front of mine. Sounds selfish maybe... this is a mother that was verbally and physically abusive to me for many many years. I got over that and helped her through the death of her husband and much more. I have to take this time for me and achieve my own success so that I am effective. I am not willing to be sick anymore. My husband has even lost 20 pounds on our new routine. So your congrats mean more than you know.

I am so sorry this is putting you under such stress, but it sounds like your new focus on your own needs and health will help you keep things in perspective. WLS has so many other positive effects on us we never thought of. It can be very empowering.

Well if it is not one thing it is your mother! I know that is not punny But I always liked the saying. Seriously one of the Sad cold truths about any kind of long-term recovery Is life gets in the way. It sounds like you are doing great And I always get a lot out of your posts. Keep it up and remember like all things it is only temporary. K By the way I note to everybody When I say stuff like that I know it sounds like I am An AA'er in a Hallmark store but I do truly mean it and believe it.

For some reason I thought you were a lot further out than 4 months...congratulations on your weight loss so far. Kudos to you for putting yourself first. I always say noone cares as much about you as you, so you've got to look out for yourself. I see now that you are more than 4 months out. I just noticed the date of your original post.

Yeah, some posts get resurrected when people read back through old threads on the forum and comment on them. I am one that uses the "New Topics" button up top so that I do not miss out on posts from forums I would not usually go on and check out. So the resurrections are kind of awesome to bump up. I love it!

I've started using the new threads button as well. There are some really funny posts back in these pages. I've read probably 75% of all the posts on this site, but I had to stop when I started reading about insurance denials & complications. It made me too anxious...

I love it! Yep And I had two parents like that, and learned the hard way how important it is to put myself first, wish I had wised up sooner. Now I have to look at a more recent post to see where you're at, but you're doing great
