Well yesterday I made a thin crust pizza with boboli crust and lots of meats and cheese on my quarter. Feels weird saying quarter as I used to eat the whole dang thing and a salad before lol. Anywho, a quarter is now four servings for me on an empty stomach. So I had one piece and a couple hours later had another. The carbs in those 2 pieces were around the 20s. Normally I just eat the toppings but it had been spicy in the past so I split it up like that.
I should also mention I have been constipated. I didn't go for about three days and then hardly went when I did. Sorry it might get a bit bathroom graphic here so stop reading if you are sensitive. My poop has felt too big to come out all week as well. I think I'm not eating enough fat. But I sure went last night about a couple hours after that first slice! It hurt so bad! And still does. Last night it felt as if I had a hemorrhoid as well from the straining. I didn't count how many times I went but I kept having to get up. The poop wasn't loose or diarrhea like but instead was alot of pressure down there and normal but wide coming out like a brick. I am just assuming the culprit was the pizza, too. But even today it hurts to go to the bathroom and sit. I was so miserable last night.
There are leftovers in the fridge...but I am scared now! Lol

You are STILL very new post op!!! I couldn't eat bread for a loooong time. I did need a starchy carb, but did much better with thin, crunchy, non-white flour options - my go-to was the soy-flaxseed tortilla chips from Trader Joes, I made nachos out of them, dipped in hummus, even put peanutbutter on them. The Flat-Outs are good, I also used low-carb tortillas for pizzas and quesedillas.

Yup, you are not eating enough fat. Now STOP testing the bread, including the "flat out" type stuff. If you can consume 30 grams of protein from food in one sitting and still have room for more, THEN you can have something additional. Pushing the limits is not a good habit. There's plenty of time for that in the rest of your life.

Ooh thanks for reminding me about the no room thing. I guess I am just too exhausted for me to think logically that the bread is taking up space lol. I had it in my mind NOT to eat fruits or veggies yet because they take up space so I am not sure why I didn't put two and two together with the bread. Must be the exhaustion ;/
Also, Mr Songbird didn't appreciate the smell from the gas last night. There was a time he came over with a smile to give me a hug but then stopped dead in his tracks and said, "what is that?!"

That's half a flatout at 8g carbs and that's all the carbs today. It was a calculated risk. Only Zero carb protein shakes and water and steak other then that. Thanks for the tough love though I tend to be hard headed sometimes.
Got some devastating news today and as a result didn't feel like eating. So just had protein shake, 4 oz steak, beef dog w/ half a flat out toasted in butter with some cheese. Wasn't very good and not gonna do it again but needed to try something new. I am gonna drink another protein shake then that's it for tonight. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I sure as hell hope it doesn't get any worse.

But avoid bread and any wheat product until 3 months out, that is notorious for causing problems.

I'm a month out and I eat cashews all the time. I chew them well, but they turn to paste in your mouth quite easily. I find they are one of the things that sit best with me, and I can just keep the container by me and munch on them throughout the day.

i just wanted to tell you early out i learned the best way to keep things moving and soft was by increasing the fat in my diet , i am almost 11 months out now and i still have to make sure i keep the fat level up or things slow down and get way to uncomfortable, but also i wanted to let you know i still cant eat pasta or rice or bread, i have been able to eat like a half of a piece of multi grain sourdough or even a quarter of a bagel but that is it , so i eat mostly high protein low carb diet and and also salad keeps things moving, and also the pain meds you might be on might be stopping the bm....but you sound like our doing great .

(Fluid might be stuff like sauce or gravy or sour cream or broth....) If it's not on that list, don't eat it. The End. Don't try to fit anything else in. There, that's as simple as it can get, right?

I don't eat bread or white flour carbs. I tried a bite once and it felt like it was stuck and wouldn't go down for quite some time. Won't do that again. In between shakes, I have had the Trader Joe's Plantain chips dipped in the cucumber/ dill Greek yogurt from Costco and do fine with it. (I can only eat two or three chips at a setting) I do fine with nuts. I have a big container of mixed nuts and have been munching on them for a couple of weeks now. I chew them until they are nut butter in my mouth before I swallow any though, and can only eat 4-5 nuts before I'm full. Almonds are my favorite!

Thanks for all the tips, everyone! EN- I am going to try my best to stick to that list from now on! Last night was interesting. I tried a half serving of cashews, chewed them to mush, and they stayed down. Good for the fat but they didn't have much protein. I have some smooth peanut butter in my panty so I will try that today. Had another case of the bricks last night, wasn't fun . This morning went smoother so far. I also had a fast food chicken with cheese last night as I forgot to take my fish out of the freezer lol. Dang exhaustion. I was just going to have one or two of the hot dogs my husband made last night but for some reason my stomach was rebelling. Every time I took a bite, it felt like I was swallowing rocks when it hit my stomach. I didn't understand it because I was chewing it to liquid. So I guess my stomach had a mind of its own and didn't want any beef last night. So tonight I will be trying fish for the first time. I am adding some Parmesan cheese and olive oil to it and baking it in the oven. Not sure if I will need any sauce to rinse it down with haha. My biggest thing right now appears to be adding fat. So, how do you personally add fat? I looked on myfitnesspal and those days I had the trouble in the bathroom. One day I only consumed 20g, which actually means I consumed 4g of fat. No wonder I had bathroom trouble!

Also another weird observation. My stomach apparently prefers warm food in my belly. When I eat greek yogurt or shakes or something else cold, I get tummy aches. Is this the reflux?

I am the exact same way! It's very hard for me to eat or drink anything cold. In fact, even room-temp doesn't sit as well as piping hot! Weird! I don't know why, but you're not alone.

Thanks! It's good to know I am not alone. What's weird is for fluids, I can only drink iced or really cold water. Anything else makes me nauseous. But food it's the opposite lol

Your stomach is wounded. It has cuts. You are putting hot, cold, spicy (see hot dogs) or otherwise irritating stuff on cuts. That's likely to hurt. Next time you cut your finger, put some pepper on it and see what happens . Or shake some salt on a scrape, etc......

How to add fat: 1. Get a spoon. Pour some olive oil in it and swallow. Like a good two tablespoons. Or use any other vegetable oil. 2. Get a cracker. Smother it with butter, like at LEAST as thick as the cracker and nibble. 3. Get your hot tea or coffee. Put in a quarter cup of heavy cream. 4. If you are eating cottage cheese or ricotta cheese: Cut the portion by half with sour cream. 5. Get a spoon. Put some peanut butter in it and lick. You're overthinking this sweetie .

Bacon wrapped Hotdogs are yummy! I found these Pre-Surgery, when we were on vacation in the Philippines. Just a small kiosk in a mall, the hotdogs were completely wrapped with bacon like a barber pole. They were cooked on one of those roller type cookers so it cooked the bacon perfectly. Since I was eating a Paleo/Atkins type diet I had mine without the bun and loved it.

No wonder I had bathroom trouble! I have tried a lot of things as I fought constipation since my surgery. What is working right now for me is coconut oil. I add it to my coffee but you can add it to anything hot. It takes me 3-4 tablespoons per day to keep be going. There is no taste and the oily feel in the coffee is pleasant to me. Early out I added magnesium and it seemed to work for a while but then stopped. I think that you just need to keep trying things that are suggested until you find what works for you, fighting constipation is not fun. There were days when I had plans and felt like I could not go out because of the feeling that the constipation caused, now it is much better but it is a ongoing process for me to keep moving!

Ohh and I eat a lot of fat regulary. I eat 5-6 slices of bacon most mornings, put butter on anything I can and make it a point to look for fatty proteins. This + the added coconut oil is doing the trick for me at this time but things can change........

Well yesterday, according to MFP, I had 80g of fat before malabsorption! I was sooo excited as it is a high number compared to what I normally do but come this morning I guess it still wasn't enough :/ It did break my scale stall, though. But I don't really care about the scale at the moment lol. I care about what clothes I can wear and getting rid of comorbids, not the scale. And also curing my constipation Today I am going to try to snack on more peanut butter or something but it may prove tough as I got up late because I slept in way too late as I was up all night with the reflux from hell rearing its ugly face again. I woke up coughing from it, it was so bad and now my bronchioles are sore Time for a medication switch I am thinking. I have no idea why it is not working now. Perhaps all of the fat I am adding? Though we don't absorb most of it, it does go through my naughty tummy.
