On Friday the 13th I had a revision. My original RNY was 1-26-2006. The Dr. removed my remnant tummy & reshaped my pouch to resemble a sleeve. It was laprascopic & I'm healing well. My doc has me on clear liquids for 3 weeks then 3 of full liquids before I can transition to pured/soft foods. It's killing me! I've actually bitten food, chewed it & spit it out! I'm not super big my BMI was 36 & I was in a 14 the day of surgery. My revision was based on re-occurring fistula's & other Dr. words.
My mind is not clear so my post may be crazy... But I'm Hungry!
Point of my post; how far should I be able to walk? I'm out of breath from the car to the door of walmart. I can only have fluids the texture of water. I must be able to see thru the fluid other than the EAS shake my nurse sayd is ok... Im just too tired to walk!

I was given an exercise schedule after I came home from the hospital. In essence, day 1 was 10 minutes and every other day two minutes was added, and I was to walk three times a day. Around day 14, I had to take two walks of the same duration. So, at day 16, I was walking 24 minutes at a time, twice a day. Whenever my walk time reached 45 minutes (don't recall the day), I only had to walk once a day for that amount. All walks were to be on flat ground. This was really hard for me, but I ended up walking circles around the outside of my house. I'm sure my neighbors thought I was crazy.
That sounds really confusing, I'm sure. It went like this: Day 1: 10, 10, 10 Day 2: 10, 10, 10 Day 3: 12, 12, 12, Day 4: 12, 12, 12 Day 5: 14, 14, 14 etc
I hope that helps. Maybe you could start with a schedule like mine and work your way up?

Thanks.
The past 4 days I've been walking to the locale convient store. It's 5 blocks away on a flat surface. Normally the total of 10 block walk takrs me around 20 minutes unless im in a hurry. Latey it takes over an hour! My walking partner is a verry distracted 3yr old. His daily reward is a capri sun of his choice from the store.
Maybe I will try to find a shorter walk & walk it twice a day....

How far you are able to walk is a very individual thing. Were you in shape before your surgery? You're still very early post op. Do what you can and rest when you need to. Your body needs time to heal.

I started walking the very day after I got home from the hospital and I take it a little further after a few days of walking that distance. I am only 3 weeks out from gastric bypass and still feel a little soreness so I do not want to over do it. I did the same thing a few days after surgery...by boyfriend and grandson (which I am raising) ordered pizza and I could not take it...the smell got me. I chewed it up and spit it out.

Are you asking how much exercise you should get since you are weak from a clear liquid diet? That's what I'm getting from your post. When I had my original RNY in 2004, I was on clear liquids for three weeks, and I know how awful that is. I used to wake up crying. All I wanted was an olive, and I don't even like olives!! It will pass - I know how hard it is. I would definitely guage your exercise on how you feel. If you are getting winded or light-headed, then slow it down. I would try to drink as many of the shakes as you can....hang in there!!

I didn't start walking till a few months after my RNY. Then I was walking every day. I went from barely being able to walk to the mailbox to being able to walk three miles a day. Then I stopped.
I had a panniculectomy and developed blood clots from it. My fault tho, didn't move around enough. So I wasn't able to continue with the walking.
I totally need to get moving again. I hate the way I feel now.
