Hang in there, Jamie. Sending you healing vibes and swinging my cats. You are in great hands. It took forever for my incision to heal.....to the point that I thought it would never happen. Thank you, Gail!!!!!!

Ok, cool Jamie, so glad to hear it. Dr. K is keeping an eye on you, I know you'll get through this. I went through the wound from hell experience when I had my RNY, I thought mine would never heal either.
I've got all your deets and you have mine, so you won't be by yourself when you're here in Cali. Gentle hugs and healing light!

YUCKO . I am not liking this at all. *worry* *mother hen* I'm restraining the urge to screech about getting on THE NEXT DAMNED PLANE yadda yadda yadda...... *bites tongue and sits on hands* Do you have decent general medical and surgical care where you are? I have decent medical care with my PCP, but a surgeon?? Nope I will be alright, this is just another tale to tell!!!! HA!

Hi Jamie, I know you're in good hands with Dr. K, and he will see you through this. I know from my short, new experience with him he's very thorough, so he probably has reasons, but can you share what he's telling you, why he doesn't want you to come immediately? Hang in there! Well, he wants to be the one to pull my feeding tube & check out my JP drain & the excessive output for starters. I know what I "signed" up for & even though it is financially stressful, I am willing to do it so it gets done RIGHT!!!!!

Aw jeez, that bites. At least you'll have the benefit of warmer weather (small consolation, I know.) My three inch incision under my belly button has developed a seroma and is still draining 10 weeks post op but it isn't infected and obviously not a serious situation like yours is. If you develop another fever, get to an ER immediately! No need to take unnecessary risks now that you've come this far. Keep us posted!

Jamie, does Dr. K know about the incision being open through the fascia? This is called a dehiscence, and it can turn into an emergency. I'm not suggesting that you hop on a plane, a general surgeon would know how to fix the wound and it doesn't mean that anything needs to be done with the stuff on the inside, but please, if you haven't already, have someone take a look at the wound and determine if the fascia needs to be re-closed.

Larra Yes, Dr. K does know this...... he has known since last Wednesday. Today, the top is closed, and the bottom is healing over on the outside. Very little discharge now. I have another appt with my PCP Monday morning.
