Hi everyone I am new to this board and asking for advice. I live in Louisiana and looking to get a revision to a DS from an RNY which I had in 2006. My starting weight was around 430 and I lost to approx 230 back up to 360-370. I have Medicare. My question is can anyone give me the approximate cost of this surgery when using Medicare. I have e-mailed and called a few would have liked Dr. Keshishian since I have family fairly close by in Cali but cant afford the program fee on top of travel and co-pay. So I am thinking about Dr. Roslin, Dr. Greenbaum, Dr. Buchwald and Dr. Simper kind of leaning toward Dr. Simper because my MIL lives in Vegas and said she would drive up to see me. I would like to correspond with someone who been through it. Thanks.

Howdy . Greenbaum takes Medicare. I don't know about the others. Your cost depends on your Medicare plan. The person I know who had the DS with him using Medicare had a plan that eliminated coinsurance. You'll have to check that out through your provider, most likely. Tina at Dr. Greenbaum's office can give you input about that.

I think Dr. Simper is a good choice for you if Dr. Keshishian is too expensive (and with Dr. Rabkin not taking Medicare for WLS). If she doesn't post here in the next day or two, you may try private messaging the woman on here who has the screen name Paula. I think she could be very helpful for you.
I didn't have a revision myself. I do have Medicare, but I buy an additional private BC/BS of KS policy (that by my state's law they had to let me buy if I availed myself of it at the time that I first qualified for Medicare) to supplement it/a Medigap plan (I think mine is Plan F), that covered Medicare's deductible and 20% coinsurance I would have otherwise owed.

Roslin takes Medicare, but he and his hospital are in the one of the most expensive parts of Manhattan. Travel there, especially lodging for a companion if you have someone with you, is really going to add to costs.
