I apologize if this has been asked 100 times Is there a decent chewable calcium citrate that I can buy at Walmart/Target/Walgreens (I have nothing else close... I live in the sticks!). I'm not placing another online order until next month (gotta order enough for free shipping!), so I'd really like to be able to pick something up while I am out. The have about 1/3 of a 300 count bottle that I picked up at Walmart of the horse pill sized calcium citrate and I have to take 8 of them a day. It wasn't an issue for a while, but for some reason lately I've been having a really hard time getting them down. I either choke them back up or they turn sideways for the slide down and it HURTS. So... I'm thinking maybe chewable is the way to go for a while...

I realize this won't help today, but try the chewable calcium citrate from Bariatric Advantage. The lozenges have 500 mg of calcium citrate each. Some people hate them, but I think they taste ok, at least the chocolate and cherry flavors. The mint is too minty for me. Vitalady carries them, so include them in your next order. I also have trouble swallowing those huge pills, so these are a lifesaver for me. There is also a chewy kind from BA that some people prefer, but they have only 250 mg each. In the meantime, do you have a pill cutter??

Becky, have you tried to dissolve the calcium? They really have no taste and I used to dissolve them in yogurt or cottage cheese and eat them with my meals. They do remain just a little "gritty" but I was OK taking them that way until I could swallow better. If you try this put them in something to dissolve ahead of time, I would put the next batch in as I took the dose that had been setting in the refrigerator in yogurt.

I happened to be going to Walmart today so I checked out the chewable calcium. There were about 6 different brands. They came in fruit gummy flavors, chocolate and caramel and cream swirls. They had varying amounts of calcium and carbs. Both Citracal and Caltrate make chewable gummy ones. Although they compared well with amounts of nutrients they were higher in carbs than the ones I buy from Vitalady. Also I do not know how they compare in quality and absorption.
