Okay, everybody, how on earth do you add calcium citrate to your vitamin regime without getting totally stopped up? I have my multivitamin down as part of the routine, but every time I take calcium, it totally constipates me. I am a regular gal, and this is really problematic for me. Are there brands that don't have that effect? Things I can do to minimize it?
I have my six week follow-up tomorrow and I'm going to ask my doctor, but I thought I'd check here as well.

I had to resort to taking Miralax (or the Costco equavalent) every day, which I put in my morning coffee. I'm now down to every-other-day, which works well for me. I take BA chewy bites, I always assumed the constipation was from eating mostly protein and very little fibrous type food.

Are you taking any magnesium with your calcium? It will not only help with the constipation but also is necessary for calcium absorption. Magnesium oxide is what you need for constipation. Magnesium citrate for calcium absorption.

My friends Laura and Lizanne were taking a calcium from Costco that they ordered from there (its not in the stores any longer) that is a liquid calicum that has magnesium in it and before they had issues, but after taking it they were fine.
The only thing that ever stopped me up was PPIs. Gave me the cement gut and the angry anus! booo!
But yes, magnesium is a good thing for calcium concrete gut, I hear!

I just can't poop without the following: MgOxide (500mg): 1-2 times daily Colace: 2-4 pills daily Probiotic: 1 pill daily. I use Primal Defense Ultra Without that combo, freaking forget it. But it's also nice if I'm going somewhere and I don't want to poop (like, the new boyfriend's house...).

I also use a calcium that includes magnesium (I take TwinLab brand calcium citrate capsules - 4 per dose). I also take probiotics daily, which may help as well.

Vitalady Tender Cal/Mg/D3 has enough Mg in the 8-9 caps a day that I take that it had me going like a goose.. I needed to get straight cal citrate powder to add in.. then if I got the amounts wrong, stopped up again.. Now I take 4T of Chia seeds in water a day, no more problems at all. No need for the cal citrate powder even. Nice happy bathroom time every morning after my coffee

I'm a bad girl, don't do what I do. I have to eat 1/4 cup of cheerios every other night to stay regular. Originally when I'd tried everything else... I was eating it every night. It works for me, it's not enough carbs and not sugary enough to be a trigger food. I know when I forget for a few days Miralax I highly recommend but that does something to me that's not nice and I refuse to describe it LOL. My son takes it and has for 4 years, he's 15. I also have the calcium with magnesium in it because I was told to get that.

Thanks, everybody. This is all good advice. The doctor suggested calcium with magnesium as well, so I'll look for that.

Has anyone tried Celebrate calcium citrate 500 plus chewables? They have magnesium, vit D, i think zinc and some other stuff. I really dread the thought of constipation....

I swear all I'm talked about this past week is calcium lol
I was taking BA's calcium chews NEVER AGAIN. They had me so miserable I had to resort to an enema. Now I take Vitaladys in the am with a prune then for my second two doses I take Calcet bites with prunes and Mag Cit with all my calcium doses and coconut oil in my coffee. So far so good.

I just ordered the Vitalady Mag-D3-Calcium. I tried to take some iron and OMG I was stopped for like a week.
I've never, ever had constipation like that. It was HORRIBLE.
