I see that Bariatric Advantage makes calcium citrate, iron, and a high-ADEK multivitamin in chewable or "chewy bites" format. I have to say, that sounds a whole ton more appealing than swallowing pills. Yes, of course, I will swallow the pills if that's the only option, but I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on the BA chewies? FWIW, they're sugar-free, so the carbs are not an issue.

Don't waste your money on the multi. It doesn't have enough of ANYTHING for ANY bariatric patient, much less for DSers.

I'm currently using the BA chewable calcium wafers. They don't taste too bad, but they are only 250mg each, so I've been chewing 8 per day. And I believe they are the culprits that have constipated me this week ;-(

I wouldn't fart around with any of those. I'd go straight Vitalady. And, yes, meq815, it's the calcium that's constipating you. Calcium generally does this in any form, IMO. For me, I eat prunes with every calcium dose, AND I also take Magnesium Oxide from Vitalady. That does the trick for me, keeps my chimney clear. If I don't eat the prunes and take the Mag Ox, I'm not a happy camper.
Maggiesara: I went the route of the all-in-one ADEKs immediately pre-op. The brand I used, purchased from my surgeon's office "store" actually ended up having absolutely NO vitamin A in them at all. My A tanked in short order. I learned my lesson. The ADEKs are not custom tailored for us at all. Don't even waste your hard earned money on them.

Kenny. Go do your own research. Look up the label for that expensive worthless shit you're using. Now put it side by side with the label for a Centrum type multi vite. Multiply those by 3 or 4. It is not rocket science. Then look at the price tag.
I take 4 Kirkland multis a day. 140 days cost me $13. Compare that to the BA multi shit. Compare price AND contents.
The fact that BA has "bariatric" in the name and the claim to be high and ADEK is nothing but marketing bullshit. You have GOT to learn to read labels and apply critical thinking. For Godsakes, if you want a treat, eat a TREAT. Fuck me running. Vitamins are MEDICATION, not "treats."
If you just MUST pay through the nose for their calcium and other crap, be my guest. But their multis are so very inferior that anybody with minimal critical thinking skills can see it.

Yes, EN, I have. I eat bacon every day, 1/2 and 1/2 every day, full fat dressing....any other suggestions? At this point, I will eat a stick of butter if I have to!

Yes. Make fat bombs and use them as treats. I believe we have a fat bomb recipe around here somewhere, but if not, Google them or look on Facebook.
Abandon the half and half in favor of the thickest, fattest heavy whipping cream you can find. If you are served by Darigold where you live, get their old fashioned 40% butterfat heavy cream.
How much of those things are you eating each day?
Depending on how crispy you cook your bacon, it's not really very fatty.

1. Expensive. 2. Sugar Alcohols! 3 g each. You should be taking about 8 per day. 24g/day. Oy! Probably fart inducing, if not diarrhea inducing.

I can't believe I didn't look at the sugar alcohol levels. AND of course, they're not carb-free, either. Ok, Kayla, thanks. Done.

Kayla, point me to the site where you found that the BA chewies had 3 grams of sugar alcohols apiece? I ask just because I emailed the company, asking what the "chewies" and "chewy bites" were sweetened with, and they said Sucralose.

I too hate hearing the whole "this is a treat for me" thing. For many (like me), all the bad things I used to consume were "rewards" or "treats" for <fill in the blank>. Yeah, I rewarded myself right into an RNY and then rewarded myself even further by having the DS revision with that thinking. Tread carefully. Its not a good mentality to stay in. Best piece of advice I can give.
It's marketing, folks. Slap the word "bariatric" on it and its a guarantee that people will make it rain dollars on these companies. It's expensive as hell to begin with. It's made even more expensive because we DSers supplement like its going out of style out of necessity...to live. I've looked at the labels on these specialized vitamins marketed just for my special bariatric needs...and decided Id rather go with what Im doing instead. I guarantee Im getting more supplement bang for my buck.
Just my $0.02...do what you gotta do, I guess

I had no idea what EN was talking about with "fat bombs", so I looked it up. If you go to Pinterest and type in "fat bombs", there is an entire page of recipes for different flavored "fat bombs." Too cool, thanks EN.
